no resolution to this i take it? pretty unacceptable.

and fellas, HRE AND KINESIS source their rims from the same place. fikse is the only one that does it all on their own.

Are there any race teams in ALMS that use HRE rims? Seems like they all use Kinesis, Fikse, BBS, OZ, etc. I haven't noticed any HRE. Maybe I'm missing something. Or maybe they all know something......

If you're old enough to recall, HRE started as a racing wheel company in the 70's, then made wheels mostly for tuner and street cars in the last 10yrs, now is getting back into making racing wheels again.

If I remember correctly, HRE stands for Hayashi Racing something or other....

and yes, the 840 series wheels do suffer from the same issues as the 540 series wheels. I took the 845's off my CLS55 for the rainy season and am running the stock wheels right now. They shake like crazy when filled with water.

Kinesis, Fikse and BBS are the best wheels around. I dont know anyone who's owned any of these wheels that have had any issues whatsoever.

My chrome is PEALING off of one of my lips on my HRE 845R's GRRRRR. And it was HRE who did the chrome lips (who they used I don't know, but I ordered them like this new). I must say I don't think I will EVER buy another set of these things, I have had 3 sets and each has had a problem. They are great looking wheels, but thats about where it ends....
Evan
PS- Had the same rain problem with all 3 sets, "Its just the way it is"

If you want to get technical, HRE stood for Howell Racing Enterprises approx 21 years ago...

I guess my question still remains - does anyone use Hayashi (or Howell) Racing Equipment as racing equipment anymore?

probably not, man. it's all kinesis and a bit more fikse from the custom side of the house. they're simply lighter and the technipolish finish of the fikse center is unequaled even by HRE.

this is truly disappointing (HRE).

I've been dissapointed with my wheels as well. I dont think I'll be buying anymore HRE's either. I have a set of IForged wheels on my car now that I am borrowing from a friend til my HRE's come back from getting repolished lips. The lips on the IForged wheels dont seem to scratch as easily.

btw... my kinesis wheels collect water and vibrate as well...

it's a common problem with a Reverse Lip.
