Does anybody recognize this '02 Turbo?
Anybody know anything about it or who the owner was? I've been offered it at a good deal and the damage looks very straightforward. Would finally give me a chance to own the car of my dreams! Here are some pics:
Looks like it has some nice wheels (GFG Versailles?) and maybe some other stuff done to it as well. I have a VIN if that helps any.

Getting a '02 turbo at 1/4th the book value is fine by me. Especially because it's main purpose will be for my daily commute and having some fun on the track/autocross.
Getting back to the subject at hand, anybody recognize it? It's from Florida.

I think you may think it is a great deal at 1/4 book value, but take in consideration of the cost of body repairs, suspension work, and probably one or two airbags. I think you would spend upwards of +25k to just repair the damage, plus you will have a salvaged title. Try selling this puppy after you are tired of it pulling all of the time, and having a not so firm and solid feel.
I think you are better off buying an 01 with higher to very high miles that may fall in your price range with a clean title. If that is not in your budget, I would recommend to crawl before you walk, and pick up a NA 996 and have fun with that (Evo Supercharger it later). If money is short, you definitely do not want to take a Turbo in for routine maintenance, because it will cost you between 5-10% of your price paid for your 1/4 book valued car.
Sorry I don't recognize the car.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the opinion. I'm actually looking at somewhere inbetween 1/4 and 1/2 the value of the car, fixed.
No airbags were deployed.

good luck. If you have money to burn, fine. I would strongly suggest
getting a Porsche body/frame expert to give you an informed quote
on repairs before assuming what budget you will have will cover it.
I hear the light assembly replacement costs alone will be multiple
thousands...

so what your saying is that you are going to have 25-40k (1/4 to 1/2 current value) roughly into the car total including repairs since the car is worth roughly 80-85 K wihtout any damage? Im sorry but im a little confused here...or is this another 1st post shenangin?

I def. would not do that either, find an 01 with no damage for high 60's lower 70's and be done with it!

I think he thinks he can get the car for 20-40k fixed. I guess for 20k it would be worth it if it is 100% fixed, but I do not see that happening. I think we would see "Wicked Motors" from ebay buying it for 20k and then selling it with a bodykit for a "Buy it now" price of only 69k with a salvage title. Well, once again just my thoughts, and best of luck to him.

I know a guy that owns a repair shop. A couple of years ago he bought a wrecked slavage title 996 (non-turbo) for a "great" price. His business is rebuilding cars and he generally knows exactly what he is doing. Well he completed the project but admitted it was a big mistake financially. The parts were far more expensive than he anticipated. Just passing along a little wisdom, just like everyone else here. Good luck and if you decide to go for it let us know how it goes.
