Hey guys,

I have been recently driving my 2002 GT2 on a daily basis and starting to accrue some mileage. How much does high mileage affect the GT2’s value? I know on Ferraris that high mileage is a killer on resale value. How about the GT2?

I plan to sell the car in about 12 months and would like your opinions of what the resale value difference would be between a GT2 with 15,000 miles and another with 30,000 miles. The car is silver and in excellent condition with a $190k MSRP.

I would say that the impact will be high.

 

My guess is that extra 15,000 miles is gonna cost you $20,000......

The depreciation woudl be no more than a lease payment on said car. YOu might as well drive it.

 

I did not expect the premium to be that high. Damn! I guess I won't use the GT2 to pick up milk.

I would assume a 996 turbo would not suffer anywhere near this much from an additional 15,000 miles. Would this categorize the GT2 more as an exotic versus the 996 turbo? Has anyone seen what high mileage 2002 GT2's have recently traded for?

Oh well, I'm still going to drive it daily. The GT2 has been a great way to start my day and get the adrenaline running

No, I think a TT WILL suffer as much....you're just not starting with as high of a resale with a TT.

I bought my 2001 with 20,000 miles and Stage 3 upgrades a little over a month ago. Drove it home from Florida to CA ...3300 ,miles. Been back for 4 weeks and I have put another 1700 on it. I figure that I will probably have 50,000 miles on it in a couple of years.

If I never drove it, I expect a 2001 tt with 20,000 miles and mods will probably (IMO) be worth mid 60's in a couple of years. Same car with 50,000 miles? My guess....low 50's.....but I am willing to take that hit to drive the crap out of this car for that amount of time....I went into this thinking it might cost me $25k in depreciation .....if I am wrong...well, any less and It will just be extra money for me when I sell........

You know in thinking about it.....I would set a self imposed cap on your milage if you are hoping to MAXIMIZE your resale.....me personally.....while I was looking for a TT, I was only looking for 20,000 miles or less.....that's where I would set my cap if I KNEW when I was going to sell and wanted max $$ out of it.....

I think of mileage on a GT2 as hard driving or track mileage. So yes high mileage depreciate its value. But oh well, it would foolish not to drive this car the way it was intended.

Drive it, enjoy it. You will be surprised. GT2's are going to be hard to come by regardless of mileage.
