I started using the MPSC's about three years ago as my street tires for my tt. I logged about 6K miles. They are great in the dry. I didn't have any problems in the rain although I drove more cautiously.

 

I would have to agree.. There will be no advantage even with the quick heat up of the pilot cups if your driving it on the street, just isnt worth it unless like said you track the car alot! PS2's are awesome indeed

 

but someone mentioned "soft walls" when reffering to PS2's... Would you please elaborate on this? This is probably for me on of the worst caracteristics a tire may have! Makes the car unprecise and dangerous on high speed drivind.

 

PS2's most def. do not have soft sidewalls, in fact they are stiff and blocky!

depends on where u coming from. the PS2s have much ''softer'' sidewall than the Pilot Sport Rib Zed has. it has the softest sidewall on all high performance tires i've tried, note, not any competition tire.

takes me awhile to get used to them & they're very sensitve to tire pressure. i felt the car is a little jumpy on higher speed turn. however it does offer good fedback between the road & the car, that's very important to me as well.

i'm not against MPSC but running them on daily bases will be a cost issue. it grips amazing but from point A to B in LA u'll never get the the optimal performance temperature like Craig said. i mentioned him because for his car 2 stop signs the tire will start melting not to mention if there's an Enzo on the side to keep him high.

 

MPSC's are excellent track tires which suck on the street, PS2's are excellent street tires which are good on the track.
Although I did drive 700 miles from LA to SLC several times in the rain and SNOW in MPSC's.

Everything said up to this point has been correct. For track use, go with the Cup. For street use, AD07's are grippier in the dry than the PS2 but not as much as the cup - just close. 315/25 is not available in the AD07 yet, but should be soon. I would not recommend Cups for street use as they will not only provide NO rain traction, but will throw stones on the car and wear quickly. You may find the car wanting to tramline with them as well.

 

Well of course the PSC's have a much stiffer sidewall than the PS2's, i was talking about for an overall street summer perf. tire, not r compounds, i guess its irrelevant either way, oh well!

 

Between the PS2's and the AD07's which ones will cope better with the occasional TD (90% road use and 4 to 5 track days a year).

Now a difficult question which you might have to skip the politically correct to answer...

Which is better for a Turbo:

235/40 18 PS2 N-rated
or
225/40 18 PS2 not N-rated

I drove on the MPSC's for about a year on the road and the track. They had great grip at the track and the road. They were also quieter than most other tires I have used. I did drive them in the rain, but took it very easy, not a frequent problem in SoCal however. As has been mentioned they picked up stones, sand, and other detritus and deposited it all over the car and garage floor. You can tell they're sticky because everything sticks to them!

I have since switched to the PS2's, and they are a good compromise if you can only have one set. I have not tried the AD.....

If Mrs. Cooper would allow two sets of wheels and tires in the garage I'd get a second set of stock wheels with MPSC's on them. Then, I'd drive them to and from the track, that would work great.

You might want to take a look at the RA-1 competition radial from Toyo.
They do have a slightly larger rear at 335/30-18.

I would use the PS Cups just to drive to and from the track and during the DE. Its seems like this would be the ideal use for them.

Do the 315 18's fit the 996TT on standard hollow spoke turbo wheels?

I'm assuming the sizes I need are:

235/30 R18
315/25 R18

Is this correct?

 

Hmm im just wondering if the 315's on stock 18's will be way too much tire.. The pZero 295's look to even be just right

 

Are you speaking about how they'd look or if they're too big for the wheel well. I don't care about the looks part.
