First Track Day

yeah my first time with the turbo on a small tight twisty track (Shenandoah Circuit in Summit Point).. was scary. Felt the car was way too much for me.. but after learning it more, it is AWESOME!
Don't have an ego on the track, Miatas with better drivers will pass you :P

One time, I came out of turn 9 with the CGT on my tail so I hammered it and ran it wide open to 7000rpm in 5th down the straight. I think I pulled him a couple of lengths. His comment, that is a fast car!
I think next time out I will change the program to stock, so I can focus on the line and track more and not so much the tail of the car and the power delivery. Yes, a new addict is born!

I did quite a few track days in my VR-4 (Moroso, Sebring, Road Atlanta, VIR, Barber, Roebling Rd.). That car weighed in at about 3800lbs with me in it and as it stood was a bit over 350hp, AWD, JIC FLT-A2 Suspension with StopTechs up front.
To me, track days are about learning how to stop and turn (handling). Speed is given - controlling it is the key. I use downhill skiing as a comparison. It's a lot more fun to go fast when your confident about stopping and turning.
I bought this car because it is AWD, Sufficient hp and NOT a sedan. I haven't had it on the track yet but look forward to a day at Sebring on 4/15. Until then, I have gone back to autocrossing on street tires to get a feel for limits and reactions at slower speeds. There's a significant difference in the handling charateristics even with the AWD due to weight distribution so I am working up to full track activities.
Hopefully I'll be ready for a day's lesson at "Brumos U" hosted by Hurley Heywood on the 18th of this month on a road setup behind the Gainesville Drag Strip. That's a nice perk that Brumos throws in with the purchase.
