They tried to steal my TT.

My uncle had his BMW stolen twice and both times it was because he left his keys either on the window sill in the Livingroom or on the island in the kitchen.
In the UK thieves are using this method more and more.
You are very lucky to still have your car, invest in a safe, you can pick one up for a mere £50.
IMHO i wouldnt own a tt in the UK if i had to leave it on the drive in plain view, just not worth the bother.

Glad you still have your car. As philosophical as one can get, having anything stolen always sucks.

I agree, plus remember that someone was in your house that wasn't supposed to be, they were in rooms that are supposed to be reserved for only your family ie: bedroom. Getting something stolen is the worst.

It's a cheap lesson learnt really-I can make a lot of changes that will hopefully prevent any further intruders-meaning the family will be safer.

that's exactly why I put an alarm in right when I bought my house. all it takes is one save and it makes it all worth it. doesn't stop someone from coming into the house, but it sure limits the amount of time they can meander around the house.
glad that your family and ride are safe and sound.

FYI I run 5 camera's strategically placed around the house internal & external. Some easily spotted others not.
I run a program called Zoneminder which detects movement and records before and after the event. Events are stored remotely - actually at my gmail account (plenty of storage for free). I can even have them sent to my Motorola Q phone or watch in real time.
Recently some kids thought it would be fun to egg some cars and garage doors. They did practically the whole close - I escaped any damage, but one of my cameras caught them in the act. The neighbors were very pleased and appropriate action has been taken :-)
Moral - security cameras work as a good deterent, but I still have an alarm system.
