Great question! I've read some good stuff about Elf. I've thought about giving them a shot also.

Does anyone know if they have a official U.S distributor? Who sells Elf products state-side?

Although it sounds like a good idea, PC and all, I would not deviate from the factory recommendations, it would certainly void any warranty, IMHO

changing brands of oil (same specs) could never void a warrenty on a car.

I can't see any technical or monetary reason for using anything
other than Mobil-1. The euro-oils have stricter emissions standards
which means they may have to minimize some of the helpful
lubricity additives. Even the 'SUV' Mobil-1 has more zinc than the
car stuff for that reason. Feel free to use whatever oil you want,
but any benefit will be due to the placebo effect IMHO, and any
problem will likely be insideous and slow to show but expensive to
fix. There's nothing to gain, not performance, not pennies, from
venturing afield from what Porsche recommends. Oil is more like
underwear. The brand is not as important as how often you change
to fresh stuff...

Oh, and humor aside, there is a mechanical difference
between synthetics and non-synthetics, with synthetics
better, and typically given more/better additives too,
so the 'underwear' analogy only applies to top-shelf oils...
As long as they're good quality, they needn't be Gucci.
