ya I was off a bit on the numbers,my apologies. point is there is 330's that are faster than stock M3's and stock M3's are nearly as fast in 1/4 as stock TT's. so dont be a suprised if a modded 330 can keep up or beat a stock TT(nonX50/S)

These are pretty much the fastest times for both cars stock.
Stock M3 12.7 @107
Stock 996tt 12.270 @ 115.90

The 996tt is much faster. ET's are very dependent on traction and launch techniques. The trap speed is a big difference there, you would see a 5-6 car length difference there. I have not seen any SC 330's hit the track but i doubt they will get anywhere close to a 115mph trap speed.

 

Lets not argue about these 2 cars. I currently own and love them both.

 

I know you are familiar with Rennsport and Technik Engineering. They have built 330s that beat stock M3's and put down much more RWHP. I wasnt the one making claims, you clearly stated a SC M3 has no chance against a TT, that is incorrect.

 

I know the performance BMW scene very well. I know whos car's are fast. A 330 putting down lets say 330rwhp will have trouble with a stock M3. Its not all about Peak HP. I dont disagree that a couple will be close to the 996tt, those are the Stage 4 330's (theres only 2 or 3).

Huh? With all due respect, I have a 02' 996 C2, and I have 2 friends that have M3's. From a light, it's a driver's race, and on the highway it's the same until 155mph is hit( BMW's limiter). This is from first hand experience. I am not a magazine racer, but even if you just look at Car and Driver, Road and Track, Motor Trend, etc. you will see that they have the M3 doing the 1/4 mile anywhere from 13.1-13.4. They also have a standard 996 C2 doing the 1/4 mile between 12.9-13.2. There is NO WAY a stock M3 has any chance against a properly driven stock turbo. This thread is actually pretty funny, whenever a stock car can't beat another stock car people start throwing in supercharger's, etc. You turbo guys have no worries

 

95% of the forum topics on the internet are about the the modded cheaper car beating the more expensive ones. We are all fools for buying 996tt.

 

When my M3 was stock i would pound on C2's.... Obviously a 996TT is faster then an M3, stock for stock. There both 6 cylinders but one has a clear advantage with two turbos. BTW i own a SC M3 and a 996tt, gues which one is funner?

 

Of course you know I owned a S/C M3 too. And I say the 996TT.
