Cab Or Coupe???
Was at the dealer on Saturday and drove a GT Silver 2005 Turbo S Cab. I am thinking about trading in my 2002 Turbo Coupe but the issue I am trying to reconcile is....CAN I DRIVE A CAB???
Part of me feels that the CAB is not a purist's sports car but might be fun until I get the new turbo.
What are everyone's thoughts here?

If the car is a intern car till you get the new 997 Turbo in a year or so I cant see how you can go wrong if the financials work out for you. If you feel the cab is not a "purists" sports car it is only temporary anyway right?
The car is an x50 which yours is not. The car has ceramic brakes which yours does not as well as the new generation PCM nav (I know this is important to me)
If it was me it would all depend on the deal. If it doesn't cost you too much to get into a 3 year newer car with more HP and some exclusivity I say go for it
Not to mention the nice weather is coming and having cab can sure be fun

I don't get it, why trade for a very similar car? Even if it's an S and 3 years newer, it's pretty much the same car... Trade for something different and then get into the 997 turbo.

If you can enjoy driving with the top down, go for a cab.

I've been a convertible guy (or chick) for 20 years until I bought a '01 TT 6 months ago.....and I'm suffering without. But rather than pay the huge price difference and put up with the standard convertible issues:
Noisy
They ALL leak at some point
Reduced security (you can NEVER have a good sound system, too easy to break in)
Reduced rigidity
Doesn't look as good with the top up
Increased interior wear (UV stuff)
Harder to take to the track
Reduced safety (somewhat) for kids
I'm going to get either a cheapo convertible (Jeep, Sebring, 3 series, etc.) around $10k, or go for a mid-80s 911 cab ($20k) for a fun car without the worries.....and keep some miles off the TT.

As someone who doesn't drive fast 90% of time but drives like a cop that 10% of time, I think the trade off of a cab is pretty good. I love driving to work with crisp wind and warm sun on my head. If you don't track or drive aggressively all the time, I think you'll enjoy the open top.
As for rattle, if you are vigilant, you can fix all of them. As for theft, I have not had any such issues knock on wood as I garage my car overnight and only take it to nice places. Anywhere shady, I'd take the DD for ease of mind. No leak except a a little drip on window when I wash it.
