Yokohama would be considered a more mainstreem tire. They are in the same caliber as Michelin, Pirelli, etc. Most of Yokohama's production is actually in the US.

Why is this? I can understand why you wouldn't have different tires from side to side, but why not front and back. I don't see any technical reason for it. Why would it be different from say having new tires in the rear and 50% tread tires in the front of the same brand. Or say you had one model of Pirellis in the front and another type of Pirelli in the rear.

I appreciate that PS2s are so good, but every dime counts for me and I put alot of miles on the car (12k in 7 mo with regular driving). I don't track the car, I live in a very boring driving locale (Houston), and other than dusting ricers usually don't break a sweat.

Had Khumo MX on my BMW as a daily driver. Tires were horrible....never again!
