Red face Foil Paintwork

I note that Ruf and Cargraphic take a Black car and then add a brightly coiled removeable foil which looks like an OEM paint job in a completely different ( and usually much brighter ) colour. Does anybody know anything about this process ???

This is the RUF that Richard's talking about. It's black underneath the green foil.

If anyone remembers one of the "Cannonball" movies from way back when, they had a Countach that had paint that's water soulable.

HotRodGuy, I guess. Going to be pretty expensive though.

Does anyone know if it's actually a foil or is it vinyl?

It's foil. Nowadays all the Taxi's here in Germany are being ordered in popular colors, like silver or black, and then covered in foil. Much better for resale value (cause our Taxis have to be beige) and it protects the original paint, which is another plus.

From what I understand, it works just like having your windows tinted.

I had time to kill, so I did some research for ya. This company looks pretty good:
http://www.foliocar.de/

They did some pretty cool stuff like this:

and this:

They also do plain foils of course, more examples here:
http://www.foliocar.de/page_galerie.php

If you're interested in doing this Richard, the base price for a 911 is €1,250 and they even have a Swiss subsidiary from what I understand:
http://www.intax.de/pdf/Kundeninfo%2...2019.07.05.pdf
http://www.hauser-ag.ch/site/folio.htm

I apologize for only posting links to German sites, but I couldn't find anything in English on this subject!

Oliver

nice found Oliver! I've look thought the pages. To foil a 996 will cost 1250 EUR. Thats not bad for a perfect color change job and it can be un-do when you like.

I've saw some pizza delivery car with whole car foil in GTA. The job was not as nice as that Germany site did. But maybe they have different grade of product.

Isn't this what Nascar is using now ? I hear them referring to a car as "wrapped", denoting a sponsor change or a special color.

Would be great to have for track days, etc.
