Page Ten

Ken,

Requirments for your first event are listed on page ten of the rule book. I urge you to consider a target average below 130 mph with an allowed top speed (called "tech speed") of 150 mph.Consider a target average of 120 o 125 mph. You will need a firesuit, good helmet( I like stand 21)five point belts-must be 3" width, 2.5# fire extinguisher, gloves, proper shoes and you are good to go. We will talk about TIRES via email. OK?

johns,

we have discussed this before. only a few people are qualified to run 200; risk grows exponentially from 150 to 200+. that guy made numerous mistakes. downshifting after losing a tyre and others we won't discuss. notice that he lived however, and walked away.

Tyson,

quit waxing your wheels, put your gold neck chains on and go buy your stand 21!!!!!! now i gotta figure out what car to get for the summer fun

you guys have 700bhp cars and you seriously never go top speed????? I went three times. When my car is stock it said 312kmh and when i added stage 2 it read 329kmh. the third time was with a speed gun which read 323kmh. a guy i know has a stage 5 evoms turbo and i am sure he will tape his whole run on video and when he does i wil ask him if i can host it for all to see

this is a bit offtopic but are all stage 5 evoms cars 770bhp? or is there a new version for that kind of power?

There really is no room in North East to drive that fast. A track mabey but you have to be kind of sick in the head to go that fast on the highway

Watt: I'm no high speed expert but to me the only thing you should do is lift the throttle (no both feet in here until your damn sure you've lost it). I would keep the clutch in. What the hell was he doing downshifting?!!! I couldn't believe it. I would ever so gently ease on the brakes once I got below about 150 (let the air slow you, it works pretty well as a brake at those speeds). Is this right?

The most high speed driving I have done was in a Mazda RX-7 turbo across Canada before dropping into Cornwall and going to Lake Placid NY for ski jumping training camp back in about 1988. We were cruising at 150-160 for over 20 minutes, the road was deserted, way flat, excellent visibility and no side access. Biggest risk was a critter crossing the road. Quite fun actually and after you get used to it, driving at 60 mph is almost like being parked. I can only imagine you guys at this thing or the Autobahn.

As far as I know there are only 3 Stage 5 cars that have been done. The first was a development car in New Jersey, the second was mine and the third was shipped to Bahrain. My car was done slightly differently then the first New Jersey car. I think they are going to change his parts to match mine. Not sure about the car that went to Bahrain.

Since Roland is too shy and retiring, here is the part of his 200+ car most people get to see (albeit briefly)

Ken and Budman, I know that you live on the East Coast so you might also want to try Nebraska Open Road there is also open road racing in Nebraska and Texas but I think Budman wants to stay far from Texas as possible.

Here is some more links
West Texas Open Road
Big Bend Open Road
Silver State Classic
