Fanman is infamous around these parts
Yeah, I have a friend that works for HKS, they are testing the new EVO 9 over at SP Engineering with pretty much all their stuff except cams thay were pulling 415 whp, they are saying with the cams & one more thing they will be getting 450+ whp. Crazy. Also said this is by far the most popular "power adder" vehicle these days for the imports (Japanese).

I've had two 2003 Z06s in the past and don't want to do that again. In fact, one had a Procharger putting down approximately 600 rwhp.

I am trying to decide between an Evo, S2000 or M3.

If you are going to modify them, the clear choice is the EVO. To get big hp out of the S2000 & especially the M3 will take $10K plus for the S2000 (FI unit & supporting mods) & about $20K for the M3.

I agree that the new Z06 is a nice car but I will rather spend another $45-50K for a new 997 GT3. Why? there is a very simple test you can do: take both 2 stock car to a long track such like Nürburgring, and driving both at super high speed for 2 hours, who can last, who is the winner.

Performance is all about engineering, I trust Porsche.

I'm not sure now that you mention it, but this is what you said that I agree with...
The 996TT, however, has a heart and soul. It is faster than 99% of the cars on the road and brings forth a mystique that only a 911 turbo can. There is more to just "speed" when I buy my cars. I can always build an insanely fast car for cheap, but I will lose out in all the other things that make the 911 turbo what it is today.
BTW, what gear did you start in for those three runs against the GT3?

That's how I feel, 100%. I want a car with a soul...with a history that is somewhat mysterious. The 911 turbo was always a dream of mine when I was a boy. The car has it's own mystique that I cannot explain. It has an identity all to itself.

The first was 3rd gear and the second/third were both 2nd gear I believe. I am pretty sure that the last run was 2nd gear. I believe that he was probably in 2nd on the first run and I was in 3rd, which is why he jumped ahead like he did (I sorta feel asleep on the start as well). You can hear a long gear pull on my end, however, so I am thinking that it was a 3rd gear pull from around 55 or 60mph.

While I agree with you, I would like to make just one comment: the new(er) Vettes are extremely reliable. They can run race for long periods of time and still hold up nicely (although the stock rotors/brakes do come into question at times).

Yea, the first run wasn't all about the start...it looked like a gearing difference.

Nice runs though!
