PSI 480 at dragstrip

Guys,
Just thought I would share my results with you guys from my trip to the strip today. Very nice day around 55-58 degrees. Car is a PSI 480 with DV and BMC filter and ep2 quiet. Best run was 11.91 at 119.91 mph. I was hoping for a bit more but this was with 3/4 of a tank of reqular 93 gas, heavy roock rims, spare tire and jack etc in car. This is how it drives on the street. My 60 foot times are horrible at 1.97. My car is a tip so there is no spinning just hard to get on boost until car is moving some. Car ran very consistantly though as my worst time was 12.12 at 116 and 2 other runs at 11.95 and 11.98 both with 119 and change mph. If I could brake boost better i think I could get it into the 11.70's or 80's. I think a chimp could get in my car and turn 12 flat with no problems and this seems hard for some 6 speeds to do. There were several cobra mustangs running 11.6 to 12.5 hovering around 11,9 or so. It was obvious that with drag radials they could launch harder. If I could turn a 1.6 60 footer then 11.6 or 11.7 would be no problem. Not too bad for a slow auto in full street trim on 93 gas boosting only .9 bar. Cheers guys and thanks again to George for hosting such a great event.

Very nice tip time! Congrats..

I believe that if you can pull a 1.60 60 foot time, your ET's would drop to the 11.3 range. The rule of thumb is for every one tenth of 60 foot time you take off, it is good for two tenths on the other end...

Congrats-

Congrats! I remember back when I had a chip, DV's and K&N filter (stock tires etc..) and ran an 11.7 @ 121. Seems like you are there or there abouts!

Sharky, can you share some secrets about effective brake boosting. Should I stomp the **** out of the brakes while giving it all the gas it can take without rolling? I could give it a littel gas but it seemed to move. Maybe I was not pushing on the brakes hard enough. they were pressed but not "stood" on.

You have to use the e-brake, foot brake and the gas to build up boost after you stage; Then when you see the last yelllow lights on the tree lightup, drop the e-brake and floor it!

Sure thing Silver.. It's a fine line on stock brakes but peg the brake pedal ALL the way. Pull up the E-brake and MASH the gas. Once it gets to 2800rpms the car will start rolling so you have to time it right and let go and follow through on the gas pedal at the correct moment. Make sense?

Stevo,
The 480 is about .9 bar or so. It spikes 1.0 some and settles to .9 and holds but the turbos spool in the upper 2k range and pull like a raped ape straight to redline. The 520 is the way to go i think also. My car is quick especially from a roll but if you can handle the 520 or 550 you are steppin it up a bit. You should be real happy. Please do share your thoughts with me after completion. Neil is a good guy. I' m only quessing here but I bet my car with the 520 and exhaust and maybe some headers and better launch technique should run 11.6-11.7 or better. That is not bad as some stage 4 cars seem pretty close to this. The other good thing is I have never thrown a single code, blip, burp, nothing. Runs great every time. Good luck.

I had stage 4 FVD with 24s(polished inducers) and ran 11.7s constant.... my best was 11.5... mph average was 122 to 124 mph. the 550 hp PSI will /should do the same...
in order to get into low 11s u need a very well done hybrid k24 based turbo... one like Protomotive makes and or the gt700s with gt28rs in the k24 housing. Programming and air flow is the key....and both are not cheap... unless you know where to go...
just my .02 cents..

Silver,
that is a very nice run! Congrats.
Nice "tips" by the Tippy experts as well.

Nice runs. I am feeling even better about my 12.2 run @ 116.25 with just exhaust. I can't wait to see the results when I chip it.
