Good News!!! I have managed to get a very good price on a group purchase. I want to thank Al from Race Technology USA and Ellen from Veracity Racing Data (“VRDâ€) ( http://www.veracitydata.com/ ) for accommodating our group purchase and endeavoring to give us a good price.
The units will come from VRD, an authorized dealer of Race Technology products. VRD has requested that I refrain from posting the price publicly. Therefore, I will send a PM to all those that have expressed an interest.
VRD has requested that I collect the money from everyone and make a single payment to them (frankly, I would have preferred to have the money sent directly to VRD, but so be it).
The price set forth in the PMs includes shipping (with the exception of non-US customers, who may have to pay a tad more for duty and/or additional shipping costs (I doubt the incremental difference will be more than a few dollars). International purchasers may want to designate a US middle man for shipping purposes (if that is more economical).
The price set forth in the PMs also includes sales tax, with the exception of California residents (such as myself). Therefore, if you are in California, add 8.25% to the price. VRAlex, I may have my unit shipped to your LV address to avoid sales tax -- let me know if that is ok.
The price does not include any additional accessories, such as card readers. Everyone is on there own for additional accessories.
In order to ensure that this group purchase occurs in an expeditious manner, I have to place a deadline for payments. My initial inclination is to insist that all payments be received no later than April 20, 2006 (17 days). I will include my mailing address with the PM. If you send a personal check, please send it as early as possible so that it clears before the payment deadline. For the record, I am not making one cent on this deal (I am paying the same price as everyone else).
Someone asked about Mac compatibility. The software is not presently Mac compatible.
Joe asked about tapping into the OBD2 port. The unit has the capability to do this, but an adaptor is required to record the information. Race Technology is currently putting the finishing touches on such an adaptor and hopes to have it available within 2-3 months.
I will send the PMs within the hour.

Now we all can obtain and discuss a myriad of accurate performance data -- much more than simply 1/4 times and trap speeds (although the AX22 measures that as well). Moreover, measuring 60-120 sprints removes the numerous variables associated with launching a car (e.g., driver launching skills, tires, track prep, etc.) and is, therefore, arguably a more accurate and informative indication of the true power and performance of the car (although climate variables remain). On the 993TT Rennlist forum, there is a discussion of 60-120 times for many different cars, including by way of example, an Enzo. We should accumulate some of that data here for reference and comparison purposes.

IMPORTANT: Given that they are giving us a significant discount, VRD seeks to make this transaction as simple and effortless as possible. That is why they requested that I collect the money and make a single payment to them, as opposed to tracking and processing multiple payments for each individual purchaser in our group. VRD also asked me to ship the units, but I refused. They graciously agreed to ship the units to each individual purchaser.
A few minutes ago, one of our members contacted VRD directly and, while seeking relevant information, suggested that they make their payment directly to VRD. That was NOT the procedure dictated by VRD and I do not want this deal to become more work than VRD desires. If you want to purchase additional accessories, or obtain additional information about the product, or confirm that the deal is legitimate, feel free to contact VRD (that is why I posted their URL). However, PLEASE do not propose anything inconsistent with what VRD and I have agreed to. We must endeavor to proceed as VRD has requested, and make this as easy as possible for VRD.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Craig
