996tt vs z06 predictions

I think I'm gonna run against my friends stock 06 z06 in the next few weeks. I was wondering on what you think the outcome would be. My car put down 467whp and 500wtq before I added V-flow intake. I've been in the z06 and it's definately fast (my car feels faster though, prob due to all the torque). So will the 996tt go down with equal drivers from a roll? Also, what's the best mph to start at for the 996tt from a roll? Thx.

You will be better off running him from a dead stop, on the roll the Z06 has no turbo lag to deal with giving him the advantage. I think it should be a really close race making the better driver the winner.

I think it should be pretty close. The Z06 has a weight advantage if I am not mistaken but you have more torque! Should be very interesting! Keep us updated.

With 500 rw torque My bet is on the TT. Yes the vet is lighter but torque is what creates acceleration. It should be close but if I ran 11.9 with about 500 crank hp and stayed reasonably close to a stock 06 z you should handle him pretty well. No one believes I was close to him but trust me, he could not get away. Don't smoke your clutch but give it hell and you should show him some something.

I def. agree, and also people downplay turbo's because of their "lag" and assume disadvantage. I race a friends SC viper 3 times in 3 diff gear, to 160 i lost by 1cl, i instantly pulled ahead at take off in each gear, i think people need to learn to downshift into the cars powerband

Goodluck man, run him for fun!

Coming from a 600 rwhp Z06 and owning a 512 awhp TT I can tell you from first hand experience that downshifting into any gear you want in a TT will almost always show some type of lag as opposed to a n/a car. Our TT's with 500hp+ and driven well will give many car's a good run for the money but the Z06 has a great weight advantage. It should be a really good run and do get some footage.

I dunno man that's weird, my car is a freak then, because a 55-60 mph pull with viper's or whoever it is, always just lunges forward, no turbo spoolup required when starting in 3rd gear at those speeds, weird.

BTW Z06 does have a good weight advantage, but how about modded 01's, they arent that heavy to begin with, mine has no sunroof, straight pipes and so on, i wonder what i weigh compared to one?!

I corner balanced my car a few weeks ago and it weighed 3,521lbs without me in the car and a quarter tank of gas. You are running K16's which spool up qicker than my stageIV K24's.

Yea true your right, forgot about that. Hmm damm that's real heavy. i figured my car would be in upper 3200-3300lb range, from what ive read stock 01 996tt's were like 3398 or so!
