Anyone with Tuned cars feel spoiled? I did after driving Stock TT
I wanted to share something that to me blows my mind.
Yesterday I test drove Luting_Chen's Yellow TechArt and was very impressed with his Ruf Suspension. However something was different to me?
We went on highway 280 for a little test drive. Here comes the interesting part. I would press on the throttle and the car wouldn't move? What's this I said? I knew what it was, I was soo used to all the power/torque in my EVO 4Gt that his car felt like it had no power.
WOW, I don't think I could have ever imagined saying that a Porsche Twin Turbo would be slow!
So I thank you Todd at EVO and GIAC for giving me a car I just love.
And for those who have tuned their cars with more HP/TQ I strongly suggest you get in a Stock TT and drive it. After your drive you will come to appreciate your car that much more.

Funny you should mention this....
After getting my stage IV a few weeks ago... I started with 101 octane fuel and ran the race program... then, at half a tank I filled up with 91 and ran the standard stage IV program... then, just this morning I filled up completely with 91 octane and am running the stock program (testing all the chipswitch settings just to make sure everything is working properly).
DAMN!
What a difference. Stock used to feel SOOOOOO fast. Now it is... um... well...
Did somebody put a volkswagen 1600cc motor in my Porsche?
<big grin>
There is just NO overstating the change in performance in the stage IV over stock... it is absolutely incredible.
All I can say is; best single modification I've ever done to ANY vehicle I've ever owned.... and I've owned and modified a BUNCH of vehicles.

Doesn't a big mod like Stage 4 void your warranty? ECU reprogramming is not detectable by the dealer, but new headers, exhaust, turbochargers etc, and a program switch are pretty obvious to the dealer, are they not? Do the techs just turn the other way and work on the car under warranty anyway?

actually, if you start with an X50 like me, then with stage 4 you have stock turbos I did not change my headers yet either and an exhaust does not void your warranty unless your dealer is one **** ****...It all depends on your dealership and your relationship with your service manager end of the day...

Since I can't (still) get Todd at EVO to answer my PM or email, I'll have to ask you guys, and msindi in particular - if I were to get a turbo with the X50 (yes, I know not to pay extra for it if possible when purchasing pre-owned...) then the stage 4 should be less expensive, correct? Same goes for stage 4 GT, I imagine, but don't know how much the turbos are in terms of the package kit.

It's so funny that you started this thread becuase I just got my GS400 back from the shop last week and had my boost turned up to about 8.5 lbs. Which would make the car like a 12.8 to 13.2 Quarter mile car. "The Freaking car feels like a Slug"...
The Turbo has made me loose interest in lots of other cars, simply becuase I know that they cannot keep up with it. "I do not know if this is a bad thing "....I will have my Stage 4GTR and Stage 2 clutch with Pss9s installed in 2 weeks and at that point I Do not think there is turning back to any other Sports car. "We'll maybe an S7 or CGT. But even still, I don't know that they would compare!!! All of us "EVO-FVD-Imagine Auto (A.K.A) Stage ?? guys are very very lucky.

This is amazing - I've only driven the turbos, and I felt exactly what I read here - it was almost scary fast to me, but I'm used to vehicles like an E500 and Boxster S tip. I can't even fathom what 2nd and 3rd gears are like with these stage 4 kits!!

teutonic - 4GT needs new turbos so starting with an X50 does not help much. Level 4 does use K24s and GT2 intercoolers are recommended both of which youd be getting with the X50.

thanks mansour - guess I'll be looking for an X50 then - much easier upgrade to stage 4...
Too bad dealers don't think X50 adds nothing to the price in the wholesale market! Of course if they took a trade they wouldn't count the X50, but when they sell it, that's another story! What I find most of all is that they base the selling price not on miles, but on sticker. If a car had a sticker of 150k, they want 130k, essentially because of X50.
