Anyone heard of K16/26 Turbos?

If so, how do they work and what are the benefits / drawbacks? Any feedback is appreciated!

Be careful with turbos that have too great a spread between the size of the turbine and the compressor. Speaking from experience (unfortunately), if the delta is too great, the turbine will be unable to keep up with the compressor, and the turbo will not produce power commensurate with the compressor size. To the contrary, the turbo may spool quickly, as per the smaller turbine, but it will top out prematurely and taper off. I previously was a guinea pig for such a turbo experiment on my 996TT (I will not mention any names) and, notwithstanding repeated assurances that the turbos would make huge power, it was a resounding failure.

I do not know if a K16/K26 delta is too great. Markski, do you recall what size wheels were used in our Stage Vs?

I dont recall... but I do know that stage 5s by kevin are k24 specked out housings... so he takes k16s and ports them to k24 specs and stick custom wheels.
k16/24 is like a stage 2 turbo(kevins).

it's speculated that i have k16/k26's (from an email exchange between kevin & sharky) although we still don't know for sure (sharky, have you done your research?)

my car spools pretty fast (as low as 2800rpm full boost, some of this is certainly the proto programming); it can boost as high as you want under load (i've got boost controller set @ 1.4bar); but it does taper down to 1.2bar in 4th-gear +.

I currently have K16/24 hybrids and am putting down 475rwhp. I saw a dyno of a car with k16/26 putting down 580rwhp. It seemed significant but I am suspect on the 16/26 combo...

548rwhp may more likely be K24/K26 hybrid.

K24madness is infamous around these parts
Stay away from the K16/K26 hybrids if you are looking to make big HP. They are best suited for very mild power gains. It is best to start with K24's and look to upgrade the compressors to a 32-38 PPM compressor (K26 size). This is the ideal size for the 3.6 ltr running 1.2 bar of boost. The ultimate option is to take those K24 housings and have garretts ball bearing turbos installed in the housing.
