If I am displeased with a board sponsors actions...

Is this an ok place to express some concerns?
I guess you could say I regret sending referal business to this person. But I have been happy with the service I have personally received.

Suggestions?

I think as long as you are willing to post the good with the bad; you should be free to express your feelings... in an adult way using facts, and not emotions.

Failing to post problems could cause some of us to repeat your mistakes (or the mistakes of others).

A board sponsor is nothing more than someone who paid money to have an advertisment put up... they are not immune from making mistakes and if there is a trend in making mistakes; we all need to know about it.

Open mature intelligent discussion is good... and conversely; a lack of it is extremely bad.

Post what happened....

Im at a loss why everyone is afraid to talk on this board. Speaking your mind is what these places are for. Good, bad or ugly.. go for it!

I agree... This is a board for everyone to look out for each other. Please let us know what happened so that we as consumers can be more careful and wary of what to look out for as well as for the sponsors to know what NOT to do.

I heartily agree. Last time I checked I live in America. Land of the free and all that... So chime up. The board sponsers are good places to get great stuff. But most of these things are fairly big ticket items for the general folk like me, so if someone got ripped off or spent a lot of money on something and were not treated properly when something went wrong I want to know about it. Certainly so far, I've had overwhelmingly positive experiences with By Design and FA. But if I encountered a legit problem (read: not my mistake that I'm trying to weasle out of) you bet I'm gonna state what's what. Also, my best auto buying experience by far: RUSNAK PASADENA. They rock.

I think we all would appreciate to know if an experience is good or bad from a certain establishment as if its a bad one we can question if we would deal with them.

Ok, Here goes.
My reason for being a little worried is that my comments involve Bob and the guys at Foriegn Affairs. My direct experience with BobC4S has been great. He has given me some really good service and great prices on work that would have cost me almost twice as much as Champion. He also helped me alot at the PBOC event, and you guys have even heard me thank them repeatedly on this Board. The problem I have is with the quality of service my referals have received. My good friend Jason has an 01 996 and a 99 Boxster. He was hesitant to send his cars anywhere other than Champion Motors. I convinced him to give the business to Foriegn Affairs, so he brought his out of warranty, leased 99 Boxster to Bob for a Check Engine Light. My numbers may not be exact but Bob's people quoted Jason between 200-300 dollars for items the car need. When Jason went to pick the car up, He was handed a bill for twice as much.
Around $1100.00. He was obviously upset that he was not informed of the extra cost and was unfortunately entered into a biding war over the price. Bob knocked a little of the price for him
and they agreed on $900.00 but he was not happy about the experience. 2 weeks go by and the Check Engine light is back on. Jason call's Bob and informs him the car is still not right. Bob tells him to bring the car in and Jason reluctantly does. Jason says don't do anything to the car without calling me first. after a few hours Jason receives a call stating the cost to repair the car would be $2800 - $2900!!!!! .. New ECU etc
He says "forget it" I will come and get the car. Bobs reply is at least let my blow out the valves and see if that corrects the problem. Jason asks how much and Bob tells him $40.00. Jason gives him the go-ahead and send his wife to pick up the car. Bob's people hand her a bill for $285.00 needless to say this is not a good way to do business. Jason gets on the phone with Bob and tells him "look this is the second time you have done work to the car without checking with me. The argue yet again, had Bob hands the phone back to Jason's wife and rudely say's "Get Her Out Of Here" "Just get her out of here"and walks away. Jason asked Bob during conversation if he could have some kind of breakdown of what the car needed for $3000.00
Bob's reply was "I am not giving you that information so you can take the car somewhere else!" I just can't believe this happened to one of my best friends. I invite Bob to reply to this, and if I stand corrected for whatever reason then "so be it". My feelings are that referal's reflect directly on me, and I assume that the level of service I received should be the same for whoever I send their way. I am sure this is hard to swallow for whoever had purchased items at unbeatable price's for Bob and Minibeast. I just felt like airing the dirty laundry, with hopes we can overcome this.

Jeru,

If you described the symptoms correctly, it would be the ECU.

Jeru,

The check engine light is usually related to not having a good seal on the gas cap or the delta difference on the two oxygen sensors on either side of the kats. That translates to something causing your kats to not function properly. Like exhaust being to rich, ie induction air leak etc.

In addition a ECU is about $1,400. and about an hour labor. He probably could have gotten the check engine light to reset by disconnecting the battery, wait fifteen minutes and reconnecting.

Something sounds fishy.

My above post should have read "not" be the ECU.

WOW!!!! Im sorry to hear about your friend's terrible experience! That is indeed a tough pill to swallow!

Unfortunately for your buddy, i'll doubt there will be any resolution between him and Foreign Affairs....seems like the damage has been already been done!
