single mass flywheel for 996tt

Has anyone replaced the stock dual mass flywheel with a single mass flywheel? If so, have you had any trouble with really loud gear rattle at idle? Is that normal?

I have one. It's definately rattly a lot of the time when the clutch is not press (like at stop lights). There is a thread on Rennlist about the increased wear on some shaft thing that occurs when idling with the clutch pressed in. None the less, I tend to do this some of the time as I'm sure people think my car is falling apart at red lights if I don't. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's anoying when other people are around.

It is so embarrassing. It works great, but it sounds like a UPS truck with engine problems at idle! Considering how loud my exhaust is, I always find myself revving the engine at lights just so the people sitting in the car next to me stop laughing at what they think is a very expensive peice of sh*t. there has to be something that can alleviate this to some degree.

The people in the car laughing are obviously ignorant to the sounds of a high performance car with a LWFW. The car sounds mechanical and awesome with that set up never mind the much better performance in acceleration and the increased ease of heel toe at the track.....You should be happy and proud.....I dont have anyone look at my car with anything other than admiration.

Have any of you guys noticed that the rattling sound decreases when the a/c is turned off? Is it only my car that does this?
