Ken's 996 Twin WOW

So I am driving West on Rt 10 in NJ in East Hanover and I see his car next to mine. WOW the car looks great and sounds great. What exhaust do you have on it? So I pull up behind him in my 03 turbo at the light. He is revving his engine as the light changes and he takes off. I just laugh as he chirps the tires and takes off so fast! There was no way I could keep up as I continued to laugh. Again what a great looking car.

Holy Sh_t!!!!
I would never have guessed that was someone from this board!!!!

Arnie,
It was nice to meet you!! Sort of!!!

The way you pulled up to me from behind initially, I thought YOU wanted to go at it a little. Was that silver or seal grey??

Actually, I paid the price for that little antic. After I passed 287 I heard a loud POP!!!.
All of a sudden I see

ABS FAILURE

PSM FAILURE

and the car has zero power. I mean I literally had to get off the highway in 1st gear with the engine only idling. I now know this is called "Limp Mode". Well, I pulled into the Hilton Hotel parking lot and I can't even rev the engine beyond 1500 rpm's!!

Oh sh_t, what did I do?

913.310.9927, ring, ring, ring, ring.

Hello Stephen? I need you to call me right away, I have a major problem!! Call me on my cell phone!!!

Well, while I was waiting for a call back, I went to the back of the car and looked over things. I do recall hearing louder than normal turbo sounds from the passenger side of the car. I got on the ground and looked behind the right rear wheel and what did I find??

The intercooler air feed pipe popped right out of the fitting!!!
I looked at it closely and noticed the O-ring was not seated correctly. (This was never touched during my new turbo installation. It was either installed this way from the factory or at some time prior to my ownership) I had to go into the Hilton to buy a ladies compact mirror so I could see the IC receptable from the angle I was at lying on my back in the parking lot. The cashier thought that purchase was a bit odd given the look I received!

So I looked where the hose needed to connect, reseated the O ring and pressed it back on. Click. That was the sound I wanted to hear!!!

Now here is the really funny part. When we were sitting at the light, I said to my passenger, I believe this guy wants to race me. The response was, be a bigger person than him. I said, yeah OK.

So off I went from the light.

The next comment........................

I told you so!!

I never race

Actually I was so excited about seeing your car that is why I pulled up to you so fast to wave to you. I saw you pull over to the side I thought you were just going into the Hilton parking lot to make a U-Turn since I figured you would be going down 287. There was just no place for me to make a U-turn to get back to you. I tried to get next to you to say hello but now it all makes sense since you thought I wanted to race you Your car looks great BTW what exhast is that? I have been trying to make some of the meets but I travel alot on business and they always conflict. Great to see your car. Now I will get the upsolute

Arnie,
I am running a Europipe Stage 2 Loud. I can't say I have ever heard it other than from within the car or outside at idle. It sounds good you say?
Regarding meets, why not come with us on Monday?

You don't have to dyno, you can simply drive with us and meet the guys at AWE and then go home. Please try and make it if possible. We are always eager to draw additional people into our group!!
