No they are not. the turbo carries a 993 part number and the GT3 a 996 number. You can also look at the rob bearings and confirm from different part numbers and sizes.

Stephen,

The Porsche book I looked at yesterday shows both have the same number. The number was 996-102-021-91.

Sorry they are not. I have to catch a plane in a couple hours so this will have to resume when I reach Cali or next week. Trust me the turbo crank and the GT3 ARE NOT the same.

Have a safe trip. Look forward to clarifying this when you return. You might checkout the above number I have listed. I will try to find the pic I have of it and post.

I don't know if the number you have is the Gt3 or not, I can't confirm from home right now. The number for the turbo is 993 102 021 02. This is the same for the GTII as well. The bearing numbers should also be 993 for the Turbo. The GT3 are a 996 number.

I should clarify that one, the rod bearings. The mains should be the same unless you have lined bored or machined the crank.

Kevin,

The car is done, less the 1000 cc injectors which are due to arrive sometime after New Years. I was going to pick up the car yesterday, but it rained. I will return it as soon as the injectors arrive. Pics of the assembly will be shown for the shootout article in late Spring or early Summer.
