Great thread!

OK, quick numbers, how much for the Ruf and how much for yours Ken, roughly equal performance for how many $?

The area under the torque curve is greater for the turbo than the GT-3 but there should be no comparison in how the cars pull considering the huge difference in torque (370 vs 260 ft-lbs). I just wish the turbo was about 1,000 lbs lighter.

Ken wins this one hands down in terms of horsepower-for-value. R Conversion cost €32.7k (thankfully was purchased in May before the precipitous decline of the USD vs EUR). At today’s FX, USD equivalent of $40.6k.

Cost included the following:
• Engine conversion (including exhausts, ECU remap, K24’s, upgraded clutch, air filter, intake tract, etc.) - €25.2k
• Adjustable suspension - €4.0
• Front bumper (painted) - €1.8k
• Rear wing (painted) - €1.4k
• Short Shifter - €0.25k
• Pedals - €0 (complimentary)

note: conversion was done on in Phaffenhausen at Ruf's facility.

Tim,
I will be tough to compare apples to apples since, in my case, there aren't any labor charges and our upgrade paths are slightly different. But, here goes an attempt....
  • Engine - GIAC Stage 4 ECU, K24 Turbos, headers, air filter as part of a group buy (installed by me) $9,800.
  • Europipe Exhaust $4600.
  • Baileys Diverter Valves $200 or so
  • PSS-9's $3500 installed
  • Front bumper (+correct internal parts for true GT2 functioning)painted (by shop) and installed (by me)$3000
  • Rear Wing painted (by shop) and installed (by me)$5500
  • TechArt Short Shifter purchased used at $150, installed by me
  • Pedals $200
Note, I do not have an upgraded clutch (yet!!), nor an intake tract as Sean does. So, with my self installed way of doing it, my comparable total is about $27K

If you were to have the work done and only lift a finger to write a check, then I would surmise the cost would be roughly equivalent to Sean's price.

I could additionally sum up the costs for the numerous other upgrades in the car like:
  • Side Skirts
  • CF Hood
  • Wheels and tires
  • Seats
  • Rollbar
  • Harnesses
  • Electronics

But I do not want to be sick this morning!!!!

And, finally, what I like to think as NorthEast’s Big Dogs:

493.8 wheel horsepower, 467.0 wheel torque

490.8 wheel horsepower, 474.60 wheel torque

- Result #3 shows that X50 Upsolute and non-X50 Upsolute have the same HP (BSC996TTs number was also 437 wheel HP) and thus they are probably the same program! No wonder it lagged so badly on my X50...
The wheels on the yellow turbo in result #1 are made by Schnell.
