Bosch FR7 Spark Plugs?

I took my car to my Porsche mechanic for the 30,000 miles service (car has 24,000 miles but being a 2001 I wanted the plugs changed to FR6's) and while there the local Bosch Rep was in his shop and saw my car and inquired what he was doing to a late model Porsche. My mechanic told him he was changing some of the fluids and putting new Bosch FR6's in. Bosh rep says hold on we just came out with the FR7's for that car. Let me have them overnighted to you, no cost. Mechanic says great and he looks in some reference manual for Porsche and it says Porsche uses or approves FR7's now anyways just to double check. So he installs them without checking with me first. I know the plugs will be a little hotter and probably not last as long but will there be any other consequesnces? I am planning to get the ECU chipped very soon. Any disadvantages?

Thanks,
Adam

If the Bosch rep says it is ok, then I would go for it. If you have a problem make sure you make the dealer take care of it since it is not intially what you wanted. I would think they (Bosch) made the FR7's to be a better and upgraded replacement for the FR6's for certain cars.

I wouldn't be worried about how long the plugs last, but I WOULD be worried about detonation, especially if you are pushing more than stock boost in warmer climates.

Yip! hate to agree especially when running lower octane this could be a concern!

Yeah, I'll ask my mechanic for more info and make sure he will replace them if I have a problem.

Thanks,
Adam

Do not run 7s in these cars. There is no TSB on this. I get them as Porsche gets them. Put 6s in the car.
