mods on leased vehicle

I am currently leasing a 03 TTX50. The lease will be due in early 06 and I will probably return the car after that (probably switch to 997 Turbo). If I do some mods like ECU/exhaust/wheels now, do I need to undo them before I return my car? will I be penalized if they find out I modified the car somehow? Please advice and thanks in advance.

It would be to your benefit to remove any mods prior to returning the vehicle. This way you can recoup a small percentage of the original costs.

Some companies may in fact penalize you for failing to remove mods. Not only does this require labor to remove the mods, but also requires the leasing company to purchase stock components to replace the mods.

Again, not always the case.

Best cars to mod are leased cars, that way you don't have to worry about them in the long run

You need to remove the mods before turning the car back in but there is no punishment imposed for having them on the car when you are in possession of it as far as I know. Most likely, the dealer will not even know you had it modded as they usually just send the car to auction when they get it back.

If you make modifications... just save the parts you remove (wheels, exhaust, etc) and then have them put back on when you return the vehicle... then you can turn around and sell the modified parts OR put them on the replacement vehicle (I prefer the latter... saves you a ton of money, assuming of course that the replacement vehicle is a 996)

What if you replace the stock wheels with different factory wheels? Is that ok?

Yes. It is definitely ok to return your car with upgraded OEM wheels.
