Lingenfelter, May he R.I.P.
I remembered reading in the Corvette forums some time ago that John Lingenfelter of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering was in a coma from an accident at 190mph at then end of a 6.9 second 1/4 mi run.
Sad to say, I just read this in the Z06vette.com message board....
"We are sad to announce that John Lingenfelter, founder of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, passed away yesterday, December 25th, 2003. John had been in a semi-comatose state since November 2002 when he entered into a coma during surgery that was necessary due to a racing accident in Pomona, California in October 2002. Lingenfelter Performance Engineering will be closed Monday December 29th so our employees may attend the services. "
On behalf of 6speedonline, vette lovers, tuning enthusiasts, and a former Lingenfelter owner, may you rest in peace.

That's so sad to hear. I remember reading C/D shootouts and you always saw a pic of him at the meet or with his car. I hope the company continues on without him if it can. He ran probably the best aftermarket mods for Chevy V8s out there. You had an LPE vette right Shank?
Thanks John.
Thanks John.

That is so sad to hear. I remember being in high school and dreaming of owning a vette with a Lingenfelter 383. I do not know of another tuner who had a level of dedication to corvettes as he did. My his family and all of his close friends have strength to deal with this loss.
