Porsche GT3 vs Ferrari 360 Stradale vs Ford GT
Anyone else see this article? I think it is in Car and Driver. Anyway the Ford GT beat both the GT3 and the Stradale on the road course at Gingerman raceway by a large margin. The Ford GT also ran 11.6 in the quarter mile.
I know it is just a Ford but that thing is awesome! Again I would not trade my tt for one but I would love to add it to my stable! Now where can I get an extra $150,000 large!

The thing is, Buddy, you cannot get one for $150,000. They are made in very limited numbers and when they do become available the price will be alot higher. I have two friends with them on order. I would love to see it when it comes in.

Other than being on a Porsche board, I dont think the Stradale is as reliable as any Porsche is. In addition, who wants to have a Ford? Its like Samuel L Jackson says in Pulp Fiction...."Sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know cuz i wouldn't taste the motherf#cker."
Its true, the Ford may be cool but I wouldnt want to know because I'm a porsche fan, not a Ford fan.
Respectfully yours

Pistol I must admit that I have and always will love Mustangs from the Eleanors to the Saleens....I personally have owned 3 mustangs in the last 10 years and loved them both. The quality is of course not up to par with Porsche but they were fun cars..

Did you notice how much faster the C&D Ford GT was than every other magazine test? I don't know if Ford slipped a higher horsepower motor into this car, but its acceleration figures are way out of line for a 500hp, 3400lb car. It posts numbers basically identical to the Saleen S7 that has 550hp and weighs 3000lb. Every other magazine got slower times, Motor Trend current issue has the Viper narrowly beating the Ford GT in the quarter. Something's fishy with the C&D car.

"Last I heard was 2,000 worldwide."
i read something about 1500/year for something like three years. they'll be hardish to get ahold of for maybe the first 6 to 12 months, then...
Ford GT production referrence
"In the spring of 2004, Ford will begin full Ford GT production with plans to produce about 1,500 of the supercars per year over the course of the program."
another from 10/02 (ford's site):
production reference from ford's site
"Regular, limited-production of about 1,000 cars annually begins in 2004. "
yet another production reference 3/03 from ford's site:
"In the spring of 2004, Ford will begin full Ford GT production with plans to produce about 1,500 of the supercars per year over the course of the program. "
apparently the most recent numbers FROM ford are 1500/year for a couple years.

actually isn't the S7 only 2750 lbs? the S7 redlines @ 7k and is NA. is it possible that the SC'd ford developes power earlier (and maybe for more RPM)? or maybe the S7 is just hard to hook up?

I know it's not an exact science, but here's a comparison.
The Ford and the SRT-10 Viper weigh almost the same; the GT tested at 3570 lbs in R&T and the SRT-10 tested at 3535 lbs in the April '03 R&T.
The two car's overall gear ratios are very close, and each car has 500 bhp (claimed). The Viper has 25 lb-ft more torque.
Although done on different days, R&T achieved 0-60 and 0-100 numbers with each car that were within 0.3 sec of each other (0-60 for the Viper 4.1 and for the GT 3.8, with the Viper doing 0-100 in 8.9 sec and the GT in 8.8 sec).
Based on this, I'd have to look for reasons (and there might be several valid ones) why the C&D numbers were so much better than the other two magazine's tests.
