MPSC life span

What is the average life span of these cup tyres (used mainly for track only)I am experiencing wheel shimmy/vibration when braking at high speed. No,its not pads/rotors as when i swap for another set of wheels, the vibration is non-existent.Dealer says its the tyre being out of round/flat spot?

Hi gneypiks

I recently had MPSC installed for 1 track day and left them on.I noticed that once off the track there was a fair bit of vibration.I was told it was becasue the MPSC are not usually balanced for tack use.

I have about one track day left in them after 5000km road use.The vibration completely settled within 1000-2000km of road use.

This may not be much help to you in estimating track life.

Also not an answer to your question...but...

I noticed before mine were mounted that there was an uneven seam on the inside of the tires. Not one of my tires was smooth at this seam.

I use MPSC's mainly for track as well - my previous set lasted 8 or 9 one day events before they corded. Before cording, they start to get hard from heat cycling (20-25 or so?), thus losing grip, so some people will change them sooner to maintain performance.

The vibration you describe can also occur due to the tires collecting marbles at a track event, but if that is the case, the vibration should stop after driving on the street a bit. Good luck.

Did you ever spin or slide, that would cause "flat spotting" and my have ruined the tires
