Duane, I got my license quite a while ago.. the unfortuante thing is that you have to learn in those little planes.. trust me if something goes wrong with them there a lot easier to put down in a field then a767

Hi Duane,
I can answer this one...
My first flight with an instructor was on 4/2/01 and I received my pilot's license on 4/23/01... with no previous flight time and no exceptional talent. Three weeks start to finish... but I lived and breathed flying during those three weeks. The total cost was about $6,000 and I taught myself ground school using the Jeppesen training programs.
I'm guessing that MOST people don't get their license in 21 days.... more like a year or longer depending on how much time you want to dedicate to it.
There is NOTHING like flying... Porsches come in a distant third when it comes to the most fun you can have... Flying is second... I'll let you figure out what takes first place.
By the way... my carry pistol of choice is a Sig P245... small enough to keep in the wasteband and with .45 rounds; big enough to stop in one well placed shot.

If you have the money, time, and weather, you can get a license pretty quick (like Joe did). Most people can't do an immersion program, and get their license in 6-12 months.

Airport is FFZ
Aircraft is a 1955 Cessna 170B
I don't own any aircraft right now... but my next one will likely be a truck with wings... C182, C210, or???
I need to carry 4 passengers plus SCUBA gear <grin>
Got any suggestions?

My wife and I are also new pilots. Licensed in the middle of this year. Both now have about 150 +/- hours logged and most in our new little toy!! 1995 Bonanza A-36 with a big boy panel.
Here is a shot of the panel

Big Boy Panel.... sheesh! Compared to that, I don't even qualify with a Little Boy panel... mine is more like a fetal panel.
<big grin>
That is quite a plane AND quite the instrumentation setup!
VERY NICE!
I got to fly an A-36 once... incredible power compared to my 135hp machine.
I'm happy to have a compass in mine...
<grin>

It's hard to beat the 182/205/206 or Cherokee Six for what you want to do.
I used to fly out of Glendale (the old location) and Litchfield Park. Breakfast at the airport resturant in Sedona on Saturday mornings was always a good start to the weekend.

Dock: I love your office shot! My brother-in-law has a decathalon and gets a big kick out of flying me around until I puke. It sure is fun.
How about some more guys? Even if you've got the classic cubicle, I'm sure you have some weird things and that is what we want to see.
