msindi,

just want to say that I love what you have done to your car and the approach you have taken. And I don't think people are ganging up on you, some people just have very strong opinions on the modding route that they choose.

I think we can all agree that it is far more interesting to see different approaches rather than having everyone getting the same package.

Also, from KPV's post we can definately see from the graph that for a lot less money the same power curve can be had as the Ruf. These graphs also show that both cars will drive very much the same.

And while it is obvious that the power outputs are the same, I think the Ruf name is very respected, and when people pay the additional cost you are pretty much garaunteed good quality, while the other not so famous tuners (at least to me) have to keep up what is seen below to build the same name for themselves.

taken from KPV's post ;

"Note, I do not have an upgraded clutch (yet!!), nor an intake tract as Sean does. So, with my self installed way of doing it, my comparable total is about $27K

If you were to have the work done and only lift a finger to write a check, then I would surmise the cost would be roughly equivalent to Sean's price"

I think Ken said that at the end of it all, his cost would be roughly equivalent to Sean's or at least close....

In the end its just personal preference, how can anyone rationalize cost when modding Porsches ?

By the way KPV, Sean Jcramair, rufinitm msindi, adam T...SWEET CARS !

They are very close. However, two very important questions not addressed.

1) What bar is being run to produce the numbers?

2) What fuel is being used?

Chad,
Upon speaking with Sean, I confirmed we are both using the same boost pressure, approximately 1.1 with spikes to 1.2 by the stock gage.
I was running a fresh tank of 100 octane gas following the previous 94 octane tank, however, I have a stock Stage 4 upgrade without any programming to take advantage of the extra octane. That was my mistake. I thought it would make a difference. I found out afterwards that it doesn't. $70 down the drain. Or is it tank!! LOL

If that is the case, then the motors are indeed very, very close.

Chad,
Sean and I have run together many times and it is quite spooky how closely they perform. We both knew that the dyno results were going to be almost identical judging by the previous on road performance similarities.

All I can say at this point guys is, we have some seriously kick *** cars that not too many poeple can even understand how fast they are.

We seem do be dealing in our own relm... which is great! Nothing like watching a Viper or 360 or any other super car shrinking in your mirror, and knowing your not pushing the limits of the motor or chassis.

So, to all turbo owners, stock or not, give yourself a pat on the back.

Based on a previous post a car equipped like mine currently generated at the wheels

437.2 Max Power
445.9 Max Torque

So, a RUF conversion would only add 56 hp and 21 tq? Is that correct?

Ruf vs Evo:

Ruf R Turbo 520 bhp (Price ? $30,000?):
- modified intake system
- a new air filtering system (S)
- 2 high out put turbo chargers, (S)
- Ruf dual tip sport exhaust with intergrated sport catalyst (S)
- re- mapped ECU module. (S)

Evo (600hp from stock non-x50 turbo) $15,500:
- Air filter (S)
- DVs
- ECU (S)
- Exhaust w/ 100 cell cats (S)
- Headers
- K24 turbos (S)

I got the Ruf info from weissach's site, not sure if everything is there. I'm pretty sure with install etc etc, and addiotnal intake (how much do they go for) the evo kit is much cheaper and provides the same power.

So do they really cost the same. I'm trying to compare apples with apples here. Forget body kits, suspension, brakes etc. Simply the performance packages.

Also, Ruf owners, don't hate me. I am the son of a Ruf (520) owner. So what costs am I missing that make up for the other $15,000 or so ?

Talking

Those may be canadian dollar prices Frosty...

when I looked into in 3 months ago, the 520hp kit was 19,200 US and the 550hp kit was 25,500...

I added the taller 6th gear, suspension, wheels, tires, instrument cluster on top of the 550hp kit

Here is the deal, RUF cars are awesome!

EVO/PES/IMAGINE AUTO cars are awesome!

Go with whatever floats your boat and be happy for the other guy!

I love Sean's RUF, I went with EVO/PES whatever both cars ROCK!

Nuff said!

I love you all!

Chad,
I don't know if you are asking us (Sean & KPV) but I can say I have the stock IC's. I don't know about Sean. I am looking to do the GT2 IC's asap. Anyone know of a good source?

One more question......
What is done to the intake tract on the RUF cars?
