The Road Trip: Tempe to LA

Borrowing the rallying cry of the infamous Delta House: ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

In a few hours, I will be boarding a plane to Phoenix to retrieve my car from EVOMS (in Tempe). Needless to say, I am excited to be getting my car back.

The ride home is a little over 400 miles. On the way home, I plan to stop at the Morongo Casino just west of Palm Springs for some No-Limit Texas Holdem (Alex has threatened to join me). I’m not sure when I will arrive home. It depends on the action at the poker tables. If I find a couple of fish/donkeys, I may play through the night.

The following is a list of what was done during this latest set of mods:

* CP forged pistons with reinforced piston rings, wrist pins and wrist pin clips
* Evolution Motorsports exhaust camshafts
* Ported, polished, flowed cylinder heads and intake manifold with enlarged valve ports (intake: 324 cfm / exhaust: 296 cfm)
* Ferrea custom Nimonic valves (intake: 39 mm / exhaust: 34 mm)
* Technovance custom Beryllium Copper valve seats
* Technovance custom valve guides (intake: manganese bronze copper / exhaust: manganese bronze aluminum)
* Evolution Motorsports high pressure head gaskets (Viton coated)
* Aeromotive A1000 external fuel pump
* Bell 4.5 inch intercooler cores with Evolution Motorsports custom end tanks and piping
* Aeromotive billet fuel pump speed controller
* Aeromotive fuel filter
* Evolution Motorsports custom fuel lines (braided and fire jacketed stainless steel)
* Hitachi MAF custom tuned by Evolution Motorsports
* NGK spark plugs
* New custom GIAC programming
* Transmission custom modified and reinforced by 9ff (every gear replaced, more/stronger clutches, more/stronger friction plates)
* Mocal transmission oil cooler with 9ff custom piping
* Wheels powder coated black
* Michelin Pilot Sport II tires

GIAC/EVOMS is still trying to figure out how to increase the rev limiter on a Tip (to 7500 rpms). That may happen today, before I pick-up my car. If not, they will continue working on the issue during the next week and they will e-mail the file to my local tuner when they have it solved.

During the next couple of weeks, I am also having a CO2/Nitrous intercooler cooling system installed in my car by a local guy -- he has already designed the system and is ready to go as soon as I get him the car.

The Road Trip is officially underway!

Craig, I hated the poker room at Morango, a bunch of ****ing donkeys that play real real real sloppy (bunch of chasers). Check out the one at Aqua Caliente instead. Much better room, much better players. I believe it's off of bob hope.

The Spa is good as well. I can't stand the new Morango (the whole setup of the casino, it's f'ing ghetto). San Manual off the 30 is also great.

Good Luck, drive safe!

You must really love poker. I don't think I could concentrate on my cards knowing that beast was waiting for me in the parking lot. Have a blast! (Is there a significant break-in period?)

I LOVE to punish donkeys who chase cards. Yes, you suffer an occassional bad beat, but more often than not, you can make a lot of money from these types of players.

I agree w/ you, I guess I've just seen to much rediculous play there to want to go back (that and the fact the poker room feels like a dungen). I enjoy taking social securty checks off the guys w/ oxygen tanks at Caliente (I gotta get that money i'm giving to the gov't some how since it won't be there for me )

BTW, Craig, I just did this trip about 4 weeks ago, there were a TON of CHP and AHP on the 10 in some pretty sneaky spots, so keep an eye out.

Good luck on your road trip and at the casino. I wish you would have had a mini-meet so I could check out your ride here in AZ!

Good Luck Craig,
Have fun.
My favorite siting at a Poker Table was when my (2) buddies
who are medium to high rollers ordered and had delivered to their
table, Cheeseburgers and fries !!!! LOL.
These same guys love to order take out Pizza like Dominoes or whatever
while they are at strip joints.
I have only heard this to be true...
