wow, what a revelation. know all you need is to change out the front suspension carriers and switch out the suspension to mono-*****. best of both worlds with PSM working correctly.

 

Haha!! Im doing the full conversion starting Monday! I was driving around testing it out with psm and it off, i really hate PSM but would love it without a doubt if i ever got into a sticky situation. It was wet out last night and messing around, car isnt too bad to control under a slide with it off , lowered and with spacers in the rear, if that makes any bit of difference! I was gunning it in the wet, and if i take it easy when i start spinnign it still just goes, traction is amazing in this car, even north of 500 hp and torque! Hitting it in second was spinning just as bad as first then just caught grip and went, even 3rd would brake loose int he wet, fun times

One thing i noticed about the PSM on and spinning, it had to spin for a few good seconds to even engage or kick in, wasnt sure if that's how it was on awd too, i forgot!

But im loving it and would never look back at AWD, i even hated it coming from my m3 when i first got it, most amazing mod for this car IMO, besides suspension.

A few quick questions, why would LSD be needed? What else is different from the gt2 suspension (i saw monoballs?) and so on, and would an aftermarket setup be much better fully dialed in then a gt2?

Ari quick question, do you hear something clicking from where under the car id ont know, but with my windows open next to a wall, or sidewalk where the sound reflects back at me. I dont know what it is, its when i go over bumps

My "butto-meter" feels that the car is a little quicker...I dont see how it cant be when getting rid of 100+lbs and getting rid of all that rotional mass. I would guess the figures would be close to what RWM quoted.

 

Because I think most people that own 996tt dont want and never thought about converting it from an AWD to RWD car. Also, I don't think anyone has really gone out of their way to explain what was involved in performing this conversion. Now that the secret is out, I think you'll a handful of the diehards doing the conversion. I'm not going to say that the suspension geometery is close to perfect in the car now, but I'm not an elite racer that would notice it.

 

Get ready to have people scheduling this mod at your shop shortly...
