these are the saem turbos Scott(divirextreme) has on his 700 hp set up except he has the fuel system ,76mm throttle body, and intercooler upgrade. he ran 10.6 1/4 mile at 135 mph.
to be fair, the evoms gt640 also has the 1.3 bar shutdown bypassed.
What kind of performance can one expect from the K24/18G setup with stock fuel system/tb on 93 octane?

Edit: Also what's the lag/throttle response like compared to GT640 or Stage IV w/ K24s. I want more power on a daily driver and can't decide how to move forward.

I cant compare to gt640 but can tell u that they are very close.. they both utilize the 5 bar FPR.... and basically max out the stock fuel system.
the k24/18g are also on the 700 hp set up.. so u kow that they are powerful.
I dont think u can compare stock k24s(stage 4 as u called it) to a hybrid k24 turbo...
Either way, evoms gt640 or the proto k24/18g.. u cant go wrong....

Do the quality of k24's really matter for a first time mod ? i am looking at an exhaust, headers, k24's for my 996turbo. i may be getting a fab exhaust rvm? headers and k24's with 10k miles on them all for about $3k .... will i obtain 600hp with the giac software and all this ? dean

Don't waste you efforts on a stock K24. Get the hybrid's with the 18g compressor. Check with Todd at Protomotive I seem to remember that the package with all new parts was very reasonable.

I have a used set with 18G's just freshly put on and gone through. I was going to put on a set of 12psi actuators and sell them for $3900.00 for the set

Yes check with Todd I have an X50 with his Hybrids, ECU , etc. on it. I sent my stock K24' back to him. Mabye he still has them (upgraded) and will sell them to you. You will be more than happy with the end results. Good luck.

Brand new K24's in stock. $1475 each.

Here is a dyno plot of our 2003 996TT. The base run is stock K16's with GIAC software and our exhaust.

The test is the same car with GIAC Stg3 software, K24's, and our exhaust.

Not really sure why everyone rags on the lag of the K24's. I guess by now everyone knows my feelings on hybrids...

Don't get me wrong, I think there are hybrids out there that work. I just don't buy into hybrids that claim to spool quicker than a K24 and make more power up top.

I'm still waiting for data from that other thread.

Here is the link to our turbo kit.

Here is the dyno plot I was referring to.

Be afraid.. be very afraid The car will be a lot faster when it is done. You will definitely need a bit a seat time to get comfortable with the power. Also get used to the PSM light flickering... and the smell of burnt rubber...

Ball is in your court Mike, this sounds like a way to find out where it matters on a track!

BTW GT640's and GT700 use the K16 turbine housings with smaller turbine wheels.. You actually have to weld in a insert to allow the smaller Garrett turbine wheel to fit..
LOL. Is that a joke? Why on earth would I do that?

How is running two different software tunes make that a fair test?

There is no doubt in my mind there is some type of hybrid combo that can make more than a K24. I just get bothered when folks say it will spool earlier too.

Do the laws of physics not apply to hybrid turbos?

Bogus.

This board is filled with some intelligent dudes. I can't be the only one that thinks that would be unfair.

Plus, the track is the last device I would use to determine something like this!

Didn't you even say yourself in another thread that there are too many variables???
