No envy since I just paid the Turbo off at the beginning of this year. Now I would trade mine and go for a 04/05 Turbo Cab since I miss the open feeling of a cab.

The 996TT looked profoundly different that the 993TT. IMHO, the cosmetic differences between the 997TT and the 996TT are MUCH more subtle. Frankly, the relatively minor cosmetic changes do not compel me to switch.

The 997TT is faster out of the box, but stock performance is not particularly important to me. I would be no more satisfied with the 997TT's 500 hp than I was with the 996TT's 455 hp (x50). Therefore, modifications are a must, and I don’t think the 997TT has greater upside in terms of post-mod performance. If and when someone develops a VV turbo that will produce 500 hp (each), I will consider updating my 996TT accordingly. Until then, I suspect it will be a while before anyone develops a 997TT with performance matching the highly modded 996TTs (Alex being the exception), and if they abandon the VV turbos to achieve similar performance, they have, IMHO, abandoned the most significant performance attribute of the 997TT.

Just my 2 cents.

Craig

997TT = Nice but a bit too much make-up.
997 GT3 = Natural beaut!

No envy........I'm doubting I'll ever warm up to the exhausts up in the bumper on this body........and as for the front of the car, every time I look at the 997 I think of Porsche putting it's finger in the air a few yrs back, feeling the push-back to the light change and Marketing walking into Design and saying "sorry boys but we are going back, don't care what you think".

Design said........oh sh#t, where are we going put these other lights (without screwing things up too bad).

They tried.

The 997 looks better and performs better. It's got the hips that the 996 wides never had.

Once you guys see der neue Turbo on the road slammed on deep dish 19s... you will trade in and move UP.

996 Turbo width - ~72"

997 Turbo width - ~72.91"

I'd say a inch wider, but the key thing is the design of the hips. It's just much more pronounced on the 997 widebody.

Mind if I answer my own question?

997 is about 7/8" wider than 996.......(7/16" per hip )
Benj........I have about 100 more ponys that an 997 and have deep dish 19s (for bling, not for track).......so don't think I'll be trading 'down' real soon.

i feel you gregg, hehehe... but to play the 997 fan boy for a sec:

it's not like you can't add on the deep dishes on the 997

it's not like you can't upgrade the power on the 997 (didn't stop you on the 996)

you can't get the better looks (it's pretty overwhelming in this dept)

you can't get the super duper variable turbine stoichiometry

the largeish bits of aluminum

the sweet LED fronts

no matter how nicely modified your 996 is, the 997 is a true upgrade and i'm not necessarily a latest is the greatest guy either

Oh I am I'm not sure what got into me but I wouldn't mind a more edgy NA car as well as the silly-powerfull TT...

After much thought, I've decided I want a 997TT to replace the Murcie. My objetive is to build an absolute BEAST. Even though I love the Murcie, there really isn't much more I can do to it.
