Let me ask you a question Jean, Mark or whoever.. Why couldnt someone just do the GT35R's or a Garrett turbo with tuning and so on insteadof K24 hybrids, does it get into replacing EVERYTHING (piping, intercooler, internals +) ?! Just wondered that! I figure it would be tremendous amount of lag without the proper setup to accomodate the larger turbo's!

Good question. I'm told for example the turbine on the gt28 is smaller than a k16 and restrictive even though some of the compressor trims look good. Was looking at a T04E 50trim compressor myself but decided to let go and have someone more experienced (www.ultimatemotorwerks.com) select which compressor (GT28 or 30 ?trim) to go with my K24 turbines.

Martin, Are u calling me out.. LOL here u go.. gt35rs...
to answer ur question.. yes u can do it. the lines all fit.. just do the water cooling.. no biggy.
On a stock motor I would throw on gt30rs and be doen with it. custom headers and exhaust would run only $3500 and the turbos are $1100 each...

Haha, thanks for responding now jk!

No i was just wondering , because i see when people do GT35r/40r or whatever its always a monsterous project and setup. I was just wondering why people dont do a GT series turbo instead of a k16/24 hybrid, and if alot of extra work had to be done to accomodate it.

Martin, most TT owners like to keep everything as stock as possible... so when they sell the car... its not a problem.
when u use kkk housings... u still retail the appearance of a stock set up( at the dealer).... so companies liek Evoms do use garrett internals on their GT series tuning kits... ist just not a full blown garrett.
ist not as hard as it seems... actually my evo8 tuner said its a walk in the park... ist all right there and the exhaust is a no brainer...

Fwiw you must run oil restrictors on the ball bearing garrett units (and most other dual bb turbos) which is the reason water cooling is necessary.
