that was a little harsh. i'm sure the hundreds and hundreds of 996 owners on here really enjoyed that post. jackass at least our transmissions don't pop out of gear randomly.

I like and trust both tuners but I'd have to side with Ruf on this one. The M96 motors have had too many issues for me to believe otherwise- block porosity, RMS, overheated cylinder 6 in Boxster, oil starvation on MK1 996. Maybe I'm just not a gambler with these odds.
let me get this straight.

your buddy bought a brand new 997 C4S. probably close to $85K to 100K with options.

put the RUF supercharger on there? around $20-25K installed.

then had his brand new engine rebuilt prior to the install of the blower?

how much money did he spend on this rebuild and what they do to it? why rebuild a brand new motor? why not wait until it blows up, if it ever does? evo has 150 supercharged cars out there, and from my limited knowledge they haven't had a motor let go yet despite everyone's negative opinion of the M96 motor (knock on wood ) i don't think any of the TPC 996's have grenaded either.

sounds like he should have just waited for the 997TT for that kind of money. he's going to take a bath on that one when it comes time to dump it.
