My poor turbo..getting some surgery.

Well, I went to the dealer yesterday to see how my car is coming along since everything is halted because my extended warranty is not cooperating. Basically my car has the infamous 2nd gear pop-out issue, and was told by my mechanic at the dealership that there is no abuse at all and the synchros look fine. The problem is the metal bushing in 2nd that is 14/1000" where it should be 7/1000", causing the gear to move too much and "pop-out". The mechanic is saying this is a 100% manufacturing defect, but since it is over a year out of Porsche's warranty...I am SOL.

Hey Mark, it has been determined by Porsche that it was an assembly problem, the only problem is that I am a year out of the 4/50k. They said all the gears and synchros look great and there is no rounding of the teeth....which they say would look like abuse. My extended warranty does not want to dish out $9800 for the tranny and 30+ hours labor. They just want to pay for the bad bushing and labor....but Porsche said they do not recommend to fix my car that way. Porsche recomends just a new tranny.

My next plan is to get an attorney if Porsche or my warranty company does not step up to the plate and pay. That was my main reason to take some pics. I took about 40 pics of the gears and can get all measurements from the service director. Thanks.

Thanks Tom, I have no idea also.....when I told my dealer that they do not need to remove the engine, they told that they had to??? Guess they only know to do it this way.

Also the mechanic told me he heard there was a bulletin from Porsche to use steel synchros also. When I was there, he logged into the computer, but could not find the bulletin at the time. Has anyone heard about this from Porsche?
