Which Coil Overs Are Best for a 996TT?
#17
Any mod will be better than 996TT OEM suspension (and ViperGTS ). For the money you can't beat JIC overall performance. The PSS9 is a nice upgrade for beginners but really is not aggressive enough in the long run and will need to upgrade later anyway. Moton with three way adjustment is the best even for the street because you can really dial it in for every road/track condition to fine tuned your driving style. I do think it will help high hp cars to go even faster and safer on mountain roads to less rebound and bumpersteering.

from what i have researched the sets range from $2000-5000 (street prices), & my assumption is that install/alignment/etc. will be about 12-16 shop hours. Is this correct? Some of these kits you guys are talking about like Motions i havent seen readily available...are they more for track/racing?
Great information from all...this has been really interesting to read everyones opinions. continuing to narrow...

Got my motons from http://www.rennsportsystems.com/ I got kick *** customer support and reasonable pricing. No affiliation.. Maybe a grand for local install and alignment.

I am a huge fan of Motons, and as far as I know nobody has ever disliked them. This is the ultimate set up - very comfortable on the street and can be dialed up for track use easily. The external adjustment is just a matter of turning a ****.
Budget about 5-6K not including install and alignment. The Bilsteins are cheaper and probably just as good if you are not going to seriously track the car or lower it excessively. It would make sense to change the rear sway bar for an adjustable one (GT3). I don't think changing the front sway bar is necessary at all.
Someone else mentioned Rennsportsystems (Steve Weiner) as one possible source. I would second that recommendation as he is very knowledgable, friendly and has decades of experience in suspensions. You might talk to Imagine as well.
Good luck.

PMD - thanks for the grat info. I have been out of the loop for a few days because my wife just had our first baby boy. I think that motons are the top-o-the-line set up and i am going to source them. Sounds like they are the ones everyone loves.
Thanks to all who replied to this. interesting points for sure.
