Greg - it was about 90 degrees, very hot and extremely humid. Location is New England Dragway, which I am told has a reputation for slower times.
Mark - Not sure about RPM's, but if I recall correctly I think I was blipping to about 3000-4000 RPM's to get a feel for the throttle and on the final blip used a steady, 3/4 speed release of the clutch until the car was moving and I heard crirping tire spin, then I immediately dumped the clutch and floored it. This seemed to work best. My only high RPM, clutch dump with massive burnout resulted in a 12.2 and a little clutch smell (I got a little too excited on one launch).
BTW - I have the stock clutch with 57,800 miles on it and it still grabs fine, although I think it may have been slipping on the hard launch. The tires were squealing for all 6500 RPM's in 1st, until I shifted to 2nd .

Nice run,
thanks for sharing--this agrees with Markski's theory of how hard
it is to do Mid to Low 11's. Makes us appreciate what it takes to run
10's !!!!! Scott are you sure you ran 10's ?? LOL LOL !!

This is very true. I went away with a real appreciation of how fast a 10 sec run is after seeing the difference between 12.2 to 11.85 - 10.XX seconds is substantially faster...more than it sounds like, looking at numbers. My goal is a mid 11 run in cooler weather, then a lower 11 after the FVD plenum, larger throttle body and Y-diverter are installed. If I can get to the low 11's, I THINK I will be satisfied.
Also, thanks to all for the many positive comments.

And I do not live is AZ. LOL
it usually was humid and hot.. and humidity kills performance... actually more then heat alone.
needless to say... there are mabey a handfull of guys on this board that ran anything better then 11.5... running cars with less then 700 HP. I personally know of 1. thats it. and he is now a tuner. go figure.
the point is... to get a kit out of the box and think u will run low 11s is very hard. u need to be at 1.3 bars all the way thru and have more then 550 rwhp.
anyone that does it with less then that is a God to me. I gave up trying with bolt on kits casue they all translated to very similar results( maybe mph increased- thats it).
good luck
markski
