Tire help!!!!

Guys

I had a flat tire last night and I think its a small hole. Discount Tire said they could plug it, what are your thoughts on this? Does a plug/patch do the job on cars like this that travel at high rate of speeds.

My only concern is having that tire blow out at 130 mph.....

Is it ok to patch or do I need a new one?

Patch it. The main concern I have is Discount Tires scratching your wheels.

Taking the tire off the rim and putting a patch/plug in from the inside is OK to do. If done correctly it's almost as good as no plug at all.

Best plug it! I had a large nail in the front and asked the same question myself, New Tyre (Tire) or Plug it, but I was very nervous about the plug option. After speaking with my mate who works at one of the largest tyre (Tire) depots in UK, he told me the plug would just be as strong as the rest of tyre (Tire). Damon from Tire Rack has also said this!

Just fitted the new Conti Vmax 315/25/19 to the rears today!

best option is take off and repair (galvanize) from the inside. some of the newer "plugs" are supposed to be "just as good" and have one on my mercedes.
So I think either is ok for the "normal person" with NO HIGH SPEED DRIVING. I certainly wouldnt take a repaired tire to a track event (personal opinion, no data). so If heat cycles or track stuff is a consideration then possibly a new tire may be the way to go.

How old is the tire? if it needs to be changed soon just do it now. If not plug it.

Infact while we are on subject, just curious to the Law regarding tyres (tires) in the States! In UK they are very, very strict regarding tread depth 1.6mm min depth, anything below that and your in big trouble!

I know here in Missouri we dont really have tire laws. You might fail an inspection for having low tread but you wont get ticketed for it.
