Which upgrade will handle a Z06 in a short sprint?

What is also strange is that even with all of the mods people are doing to them (headers, exhaust, intake tune and cams)...and the dyno increases to over 500 rwhp, only one guy has hit 10's (10.98) and I don't think anyone has gone better than 129 mph trap. And all of these runs are on drag radials even.
Not sure what is going on with those cars.

Scott, I know that no one has yet successfully added FI to a C6ZO6. Do you think that will happen at some point, or is the C6ZO6 engine simply not compatible with FI (e.g., compression issues)? It appears that a C6ZO6 will need FI to keep pace with the high HP 996TTs.

I think it'll happen...but it's going to take some more R&D. I'm not sure if anyone will get it right with the current compression levels, though. I think a TT set-up on lower compression will be the ticket and I think we'll see that by the end of the year (based on what I've been reading).
I agree about them needing FI to keep pace with the big power TT's. Even the top Z06 racers on CF are saying they're surprised only one person has hit 10's so far in the year or so the car's been on the streets.
It seems they make good power with bolt-ons on the dyno...but the power doesn't seem to translate to big numbers on the dragstrip regardless of how good of a launch they get. Some of those guys are hitting consistent 1.6 60's...and still running only low 11's at 127-129. The Vipers definitely get more from their bolt-ons at the strip than it seems the C6 Z06 is getting. Strange.

The E46 M3 really never had this problem. Not even with the prototypes.

I think there are a couple of problems, 1) their stock clutch sucks 2)the torque management makes it hard to launch hard 3) nobody has a ton of seat time in the cars.

I would love to know who blew up one of the 427's in the Z06. I have heard of none and I just refinished bolting one together and I see know way that they could not handle most any mod, including high boost. You're wasting your time listening to rumors. There has been no report of any engine failure of any of the 6000 Z06 so far produced reported to GM.
