Just To Clarify A Few Things...

To The Porsche Community

Please allow us this opportunity to say thank you to one of our competitors for mentioning FVD so frequently in his postings over the past few years. Negative publicity is still publicity. Fortunately the Porsche Community knows the differences between fact and fiction and truth and slander.

It’s apparent by his negative marketing tactics that he perceives the Porsche Community to be somewhat uneducated and uninformed regarding auto parts and their cars. We are pleased to say, based on our experience; Porsche customers are among the most educated and loyal consumers in the auto buying market. Furthermore, in the midst of all of this, we want to take this opportunity to say thank you to our friends and customers for their unwavering support.

Due to the misrepresentation of facts and accusations against us we feel compelled to provide a reply and some information so the Porsche community may make intelligent and informed decisions for themselves.

It has been written that your company “dropped” FVD as a distributor. That’s odd, because to our recollection, it was quite the contrary. Mr. Brombacher (CEO of FVD) entered the US market back in 2001 and looked for a domestic exhaust manufacturer to offset rising production prices in Europe. FVD engaged your company and attempted to work together to bring your exhaust components up to meet TUV approval (the European quality and certification standard). FVD was forced to drop the idea and return to manufacturing in Germany after an unsuccessful twelve-month attempt to meet TUV Standards. Unfortunately some of the exhausts produced during the collaboration failed (especially in Europe where cars run at higher speeds for longer durations).

It has been written that FVD has “copied” or “japped” your exhaust design. This is also odd because as we recall, your 996TT exhaust was just 2 mufflers connected by one piece. FVD later created the complete can design which is used in your exhaust systems today. FVD was the innovator of the one large can modular design you use today.

You have written that your quality is the highest and FVD exhaust “rattle” and are “breaking”. FVD is proud to announce we have not had a single exhaust system come back for quality issues i.e. not since we dissolved our collaboration with your organization.

You have written that FVD always paid our invoices late. As much as we would like to respond to this claim with invoices and tracking numbers, a public forum is not the place, suffice it to say our records show we returned (5) exhaust systems to you in 2002 and we’ve yet to receive a check or credit from your company.

It has been written that our exhausts are produced in Czechoslovakia; however, our FVD exhausts are MADE IN GERMANY and are designed and tested IN HOUSE by OUR staff at FVD DE. Aren’t your exhaust components contracted to a company called Mufflex in Trenton, NJ?

On a final note, you learn in Selling 101 to promote the features and benefits of your products and speaking negatively of your competition indicates you are selling from a position of weakness.

Best Regards,
Your FVD Team
PS- Also, on a personal note one of our employees girlfriend is Asian and we find your usage of the term “jap” not only unprofessional, but also derogatory and offensive.

I have always been happy with both the products and support I have gotten from FVD. I do shop around and use many of the sponsors here as well.
