Gentleman, I have a question for you...should I upgrade my clutch and get a lightweight flywheel? I am currently running Stage 2 and have plans on going to a Stage 4/5 - Todd's k26/k18 hybrid zero-clearance turbos with Evo's intercoolers (yes, the mod bug as bitten pretty hard ). I know the benefits of getting an upgraded clutch and a lightweight flywheel, but I'm worried about the potential "chatter" from the lightweight flywheel. I will not being getting a full system and will not be breaking the engine open. Who makes the best upgraded clutch and lightweight flywheel? How much labor is involved in the install...meaning putting in a lightweight flywheel will not take much additional time if the clutch is installed?

Is your stock clutch giving you problems? My 600HP X50 seems to do just fine on the stock unit.

i drove a friend's 996tt with lwfw and it was awesome. downshifts and rev matching are much smoother and the car is just flat out nicer to drive. the chattering is only in neutral and honestly its not much louder than the timing chains/intermediate shaft/whatever the hell it is that makes that rattling sound when a 996tt idles

i don't understand how people have trouble with the lwfw unless the one he got is somehow less extreme than others? it was sold and installed by a team that runs gt3 cup cars.

No Ari, 32k miles and all is well with the OEM clutch. I'm just wondering if I go to Todd's hybrid turbos if it will be a good idea to upgrade both?

I installed a LWF and corresponding clutch (Porsche parts) in my GT3, and then later I did a regear with Cup gears. I wish I had done it sooner. Gear shifts are smoother and the car is a nicer driver, especially in town. You will get used to the slight "rattling" noise of the LWF, as I did.

Best wishes, and keep in mind that even a USC grad can spell LWF.

Ari, a stock clutch cannot withstand more torque than 580lb/ft or so. A 600 FWHP car would normally put you around 620lb/ft+.

I am having my LWFW with the Sachs aluminum pressure plate installed on Wed, i will let you know how it goes. I do not expect any issues since I test drove a TT with the same setup and think all the noise/ stalling issues is way overblown. Kevin

I've got the Sachs Stage 2 w/LWFW and it is perfect. Very responsive, I hardly notice the chatter (only in neutral with the stereo off and AC on). You won't regret it. Oh yeah...Fight On!

Is there a noticable difference in terms of performance compared to the OEM stuff?
