Brake pedal effort is high, whats up?

Just wondering what could be causing my high brake pedal effort. The pedal is firm but the braking force doesnt seem very strong unless I really stomp on them. Maybe this is the way its supposed to feel, i dont know. The rotors look barely worn with 27k miles now. Doesnt seem like the fluid would be causing this. Anyone have an idea or is this just normal?

I doubt if it has been done yet. Do you think that would be the cause? I thought old fluid would cause a spongy pedal.

No expert here, but That would be my first guess. You should change it anyway at least every 2 years. May have air in the line which can cause symptoms like you refer to.

Pad glazing can certainly be the cause and the brake booster as well... if it has a bad leak you would feel a decrease in brake power.Still I'd go for glazing have tracked the car with those pads and rotors recently?
