Another spark plug thread.

I just responded woolyg's thread about spark plugs, but didn't want to hijack his thread. Well my question is since my engine is out, I am thinking of changing the spark plugs to the Bosch FR6. I did the plug change about 8k miles ago since I went to stage 2. The dealer installed Beru's and from past posts have heard that the Boschs were better. Where can I buy the Boschs from since they are not on Boschs website(FR6's). Also what makes the Boschs better then the Berus? Thanks

Autohausaz.com has them on their website for 4-5$. Bosch FR6LDC. Here you go http://autohausaz.com/search/product...2@Spark%20Plug I am installing turbos this weekend and my FR6's only have 5K but I am going to have the back end removed so it just makes sense to swap them out. Kevin

Thanks so much for the info. I also figured since my engine is out, it is best to just change them and have a new set put in.

Also what kind of turbos are you going with Kevin?

About the spark plug change!

Def change them while the engine is out. Beru's suck! Just a little off topic. The spark plug change was only 2 hours with the shop I go to. Its about small fingers. You dont need to take eveything and the kitchen sink off the car. You can take the plate that covers the coils off and take them out one by one pretty easily. Just my two cents. Anyone that says they need to take the bumper and intercoolers out have big hands or no patience! and it sdef not worth over 1 grand like the dealer charges. thanks

Thanks, that is why I figure it is best to change them now. Question is why are the Beru's so bad? I have no idea but just wondering why the dealer only had the berus in stock.

I am going with Kevin@ Ultimate Motorwerk's K16/24 Hybrids with the Zero Clearance option. Also had some porting work to the Hot side to get it to flow at higher rpms, and port matched the headers. I am looking for 600HP crank, but I want the throttle response. This is the best setup for my criteria: instant throttle response and no internal upgrades. Kevin

My dealer charged me about $670 last time (still a rip)... This time I'm doing the 30K service and they are being changed.

Hey, I am going pretty much the same route with some of Kevin's Turbos. I am going with Zero Clearance Hammer=(no idea what this really means) K16/24 hybrids. I am also going with the upgraded wastegates to keep my boost consistent. Best of luck with your set up...I am really looking forward to getting mine on soon.

Yea I know what you mean...I think I paid upwards of $700 for mine after I did stage 2. Now since my poor car has its internals ripped out...

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=51723

then had to deal with this:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=52218

so as of 2 weeks ago:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ad.php?t=52423

So finally as of today (7.31.06......2 long agonizing months later), my car is getting fixed with no charge to me at all....long story!

So I figure since it is ripped out and apart, I am doing the Stage 4 clutch, new turbos and might as well do new spark plugs.

For sure... change out the Frenchies.... The BERUS won't last more than 15k anyways. For anything major in terms of power they just completely suck anyways. Stick to Bosch.

Hey Alex, thanks...I did ask them to change out the Berus for the Bosch's. Only problem is that they forgot to reconnect my hose to the wastegates...so its another trip to the dealer soon.

Go to Renntech.org and check in the 996TT DIY. I followed their instructions and finished the swap in 4.5 hours. Kevin
