Revo vs. GIAC - advice needed

I'm looking to do a Stage 1 upgrade and would like to get people's opinions on the REVO and GIAC units. Revo claims more HP gain and less obtrusive, but GIAC seems to be used by more people. Pros, cons, experiences, etc are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

With GIAC, you can use flashloader to switch your program from custom to stock.

I wasn't to happy with a particular REVO dealer in SoCal.

Your GIAC (www.evoms.com) investment is credited to future upgrades. What does REVO do in this regard? Do they even have an upgrade path?

They are both good, but GIAC has been doing Porsche software for a lot longer than Revo and that is why so many people are running it. I honestly think that Garret writes better programming

I think so too... And I know I'm "biased" but it really helps that Garrett owns a 996TT (and has for years) so he consistently tweaks, drives, tunes and geeks out on it I'm pretty sure REVO has "access" but that the owner don't actually own one.

I love the "Flash" loader. Plus, the software has been bullet proof. (GIAC).

I think revo has a great program. They offer a free trial so you can try it out for 5 engine hours before you buy it. It also has a serial port switch that is available and can save multiple maps for different gas etc. I think more people may have GIAC since they have been doing porsches longer, but feel that REVO has a superior product. They also just lowered their prices this month on the TT software

Are you related to Revo somehow? Why do you say Revo is a better product? If you don't mind me asking...

All I heard from Revo was (at least on their X50 application) they were overreving the turbos (this was on Rennlist or Pistonheads, probably worth doing a search).

Personally if I chose RS Tuning (Germany) because I'm in Europe (import tax scam) but my 2nd choice would certainly be Giac even though I hava a local Revo dealer (here in Portugal).

They don't give s&*t on potential customer unless you buy something from them. Secondly, bad mouthing other products so they can sell REVO?

There are so many great tuners on this board. Imagine, EVO, Orten, Ultimate. If I forgot any, it wasn't on purpose. Call them and talk to them. They have a vast amount of knowledge. I just enjoy calling them and listening to their expertise advice and ocassionally cracking open the wallet.

Best advice yet IMO. If you start down this slippery path you want to think about future upgradabilty and know your options.

I love my GIAC flash! Also like the fact I can switch back to stock in a few minutes if need be.
