ADVAN Neova AD07 or Michelin PS2's?

I need new tires but PS2's don't come in "Proper Sizing" for the 996TT and have that "High Speed Wallow" problem, so I thought the Advan Neova AD07's would be good cuz they scored high in this review AND they are classified as "Extreme Performance".

Beware, Neovas are not correctly speed rated for the Turbo... Unfortunately though as the reviews seem to put up there in between a DOT R and and ultra performance, they call it Extreme Performance to this new category.

Huh?

The AD07 is W rated for 168mph and designed with the 911 in mind. Porsches minimum recommendation for a tire on that car is V, for 149. This tire is more than fine, they rock on these cars.

A 315/30 18 PSC has a recommended rim range of 10.5 to 11.5". It will fit an 11" rim perfect.

Exactly!!! They're W rated not (Y) as all other N rated tires. Porsche announces Turbo's top speed as 189mph which is WELL over W rating, personally I drive my tuned Turbo at over 200mph at least once every fortnight which is 32mph above rating and I'm surprised you say its OK...

Hi Kiko,

You were the guy with the PS2's that had the high speed "Wallow" problem. Are they any better now?

Thanks,
KJ

So the GT2 PS2 N-Spec Tires (235/40-18 F and 315/30-18 R) will fit the stock 996TT wheels fine with no rubbing right?

Is this recommended over sticking with the stock 996 TT sizes?

Hi KJ,

They're definately better, it took around 600miles or so to reduce 50% of this wallow issue 8they're not scary anymore)... but after talking to many members by PM about their experiences and after testing some P-Zeros (came with the car), Pilot Sport 2's (presently in the car) and Pilot Sport 1's (I bought them 2nd hand for testing) I'll probably be buying a set of Bridgestone SO-2A's as they seem to be the stiffest sided of the lot and according to fellow member Topspn which had both PS2's and SO-2A's one after the other the Bridgestone seems to have even more grip than the Michelins... go figure!

Too bad Neovas aren't rated to the Turbo's speeds and they seem to be dog's danglies!

It is OK. Many people here have tuned TT's that regurally drive them over the speed "limit" of the tire. These ratings are there so that people don't get them to 200, keep them there for too long, and the tires overheat and fail. Short bursts up over the tires listed speed rating is OK as long as the tires are in good shape. The tires have the extra margin built in. It isn't like a W rated tire is going to blow at 169mph.

As an example, all of the N-spec tires for the 01 911TT ( S-02A, Sport Contact 2, P-Zero Nero, and Pilot Sport Rib) all have "only" a Z speed rating, but OK by Porsche.....and W is higher than Z.

As a funny sidebar, the Bugatti Veyron also has a Z rated tire.
