Happy with Europipe?

I am ready to get an exhaust for my 03 turbo. It can not have resonance!! I have done a lot of research and will get the europipe stage II Loud. I think? IS there anybody out there who had the Europipe and hated it or switched to something else because of poor sound, poor quality, etc. Thainks in advance

Why spend $ for 5HP (if that). What about Fabspeed quiet? Leave the stock one on then.

Buy the pipe! If you're as much of a granny as you sound like, "It can not have resonance!!" (reference made to the double exclamation mark) mabey you should go with the EP2 QUIET version.

Every drive can't be with windows down and blasting around canyons, Zippy. I've had enough experience with exciting exhausts that sounded like a UPS truck at 2500 rpm constant freeway cruise . The Europipe is to Porsche Turbos what the Corsa Indy is to C5 Corvettes . Not the most ballsy , but the most sophisticated in resonance control.
Seems like a lot of Turbo guys are looking for a magical sound like a Ferrari flat-plane scream at high rpm or V8 mid rpm rumble and snarl on post-redline trailing throttle . It ain't gonna happen on a turbo-muffled flat six. Only a GT3 Mk2 with a Europipe will give a nice noise on current Porsches , save the Carrera GT which has the all-time most amazing Formula 1 shreiking motor sound for any street car. That car makes the Enzo sound like it has a case of croup .

Go for it... One of the best quality made exhausts out there.

Gary,

Here we go again. Try tuning the Europipe to your car. I did and I choose the Europipe. I also did the same thing with B&B, EVOMS, Fabspeed and Ruf. I did post my results on Rennlist about a year ago. Fabspeed also had my S Car Go dyno sheets on their website.

Granted, my tests were done about nine months ago. If something has changed since then I have not tested them on my car. Joe at Fabspeed has asked me to test his current exhaust on my car. I intend to. Until then, I have to stand by my past experiences.

Frankly, I don't believe anyone could tell the difference performance wise between the top two or three off the shelf exhausts. Sound and resonance ...... now alot of us could differenciate the difference here.

Gary,

Sorry I was editing my reply as you responded. I questioned the "5 hp" statement also with .

The biggest difference I have found in some of the exhausts was not how much power they made but where they made the power. Again, the differences would not be noticed unless you were being timed on a multi lap event. Even here it would be splitting hairs.

Arnie,
I will try to give you some subjective comments based upon my experience with the exhaust.

Build Quality
Arguably, the best in the industry. It is my understanding that Stef and Herman come from a manufacturing background (I could be wrong on this so please correct me if so) and take great pride in the design and quality of workmanship of their product. I have seen other exhausts and the Europipe is in a class of its own IMHO. The welds are flawless, the pipes are perfectly bent and the muffler is a downright work of art.

Concept
Besides the build quality, I was drawn to the concept od separating the right and left muffler halves with an expandable bellows. I did a quick calculation a while back and determined that the engine grows in side to side width between 1/16 and 1/8 inch across the most extreme temperature differential (dead cold to operating temp). I like that the bellows will take up this expansion. The original exhaust has bellows and my experience with a Porsche recall on my 944turbo indicated they added bellows there too for the same reason. The 944T experienced cracked headers prior to the recall. Expansion/Contraction could potentially do the same thing here so the bellows were a prerequisite for me.

Sound
I am not going to sit here and say it has no resonance. That is simply untrue. I have had enough seat time with this exhaust to know that there is some slight resonance in the 2500rpm region. It can be mitigated by your driving style and gear selection when on the highway and such. In general, though, it is very free flow sounding. It does not sound like a souped up Honda. It sounds like it is breathing much more freely than the stock or any others that I have heard. The cold start sound is absolutely amazing. I wish that sound could be preserved all the time. Once operating temp is reached (air pump turns off???) it quiets down considerably. At WOT, it sounds great. Well, Arnie, you heard it first hand, remember??!!

All in all, I believe it is more expesive than most exhausts, but it pays in spades. Most of all, it is a more mature sound in my opinion. It is not as raucious and loud as some of the others.

Just my $0.02. Hope it helps!

MKW Don't get me wrong. I have a EP2 Loud and love it. For me, it is perfect. Loud enough. Tonal quality is thick and luxurious. But, there is a bit of resonacne around 2500-3000. It's a mellow smooth resonance, but resonance none the less. I have never heard any of the Fabspeed products. If they are either louder or more resonant than the EP2 Loud, they would be no good for me.

Arnie states, "It can not have resonance!!". IMHO, the "!!" may indicate that the Europipe Stage 2 QUIET may be more appropriate for him. I mean they make that thing for somebody right? Mabey Arnie is that guy?

Sean moved my car around during our recent photoshoot and commented that my exhaust (EP Stage @ Loud) was louder in the cabin than his (Ruf). Just wanted to add this comment.
