No seriously - speed & rev data is recorded on 'a computer' so that someone (mechanic) can later access it? Or do you want to remove your rev-/Vmax limiter?

This is true, with the case of BMW, thay can decline warranty work pertaining to stress on the engine if the car has been driven to hard (read as too much time at or near redline) They also use this to check how hard the clutch was abused.

Yeah Porsche does have it...they are doing "DATA RETRIVAL" right now... The data has to be sent to germany to get it analizied... It only tells the RPM limit and the amount of times u slap the heck out of the car to redline... It really there to show if your motor or what not blew cause u didnt drive or missed shift or cause the car just doesnt work...
BY LAW THEY CAN NOT USE THE DATA AGAINST YOU IN COURT... It would be self incriminating evidence... and they must disclose that the car is recording your speed and so fourth at the time of purchase...thats at least if you in the cali state...
