drove the gallardo today

although it was in NYC and the roads has some ice. Car feels pretty spirited with a great steering wheel feel. ie-the steering was very racing oriented, gate shift is always fun. As for speed vs modified turbo. I think the turbo will kick *** any day and is more confident inspiring.

I think Manhattan Motorcars is allowing test drives, I know a guy who test drove one there about 6 weeks ago, he loved it.

I'm not a big fan of the Gallardo, but I see something inherently wrong with owning one and didn't realize this until last night. Last night I was eating dinner at the CPK in Westwood across the street from Gypsy Cafe right near the UCLA campus. There was a blue Murcielago parked in front of Gypsy in the red zone and I'm assuming the owner of the car was smoking some hooka/drinking some tea there on the patio. Well, some guy who thought he was a real hotshot rolls up in his silver Gallardo obviously not aware that the more $$$/nicer Lambo was right around the corner and he gets on it hard in neutral and lets the engine sing a bit. I looked around and NOBODY, I mean NOBODY gave a crap about the cheap lamborghini. I felt really bad for the guy at first, but it's his own damn fault when he could go get a Murci barely broken in for the same price.

Look at the test in C&D this month. Pretty disappointing for 493hp. I think a stock turbo will take the Lambo with equivalent drivers. Iam talking acceleration contest here. Too many variables to say about twisties.

I agree with some of you on this board in terms of the Turbo outperforming the Gallardo. This may be true, but there is something that you get with owning a Lamborghini.

I read an interesting article about the Diablo a few years ago in Car And Driver, which compared the three most exhillerating cars to women

Ferrari- The Girl you bring home to meet your mother
Lamborghini-The girl that you sleep with on the side and does only things you can imagine
Porsche-Your soul mate

I agree with this comparison. THe lambo is just a beast and is the "nastiest" car out there. THe porsche may outperform the car, but the Lambo is just special (granted it is German)

Top Gear did a good job in talking about the pros- and cons of the Gallardo. In fact, it came in 2 full seconds faster than the GT3 in one of the track courses Top Gear always tests cars on.

If I were given a Lambo and a Porsche to choose from, I would take the Lambo in Yellow in a second.

Just my 0.02

Really, that is very cool, because I am interested in the Gallardo, but when I called them (about two months ago), they told me that they have only given two test drives in their entire existance. The must have changed their policy, regardless, I will probobly drop by even if they wont let me test drive it, just so I can see it in person.

No. Ive driven both of them, and the Gallardo is quicker than the X-50 996TT.

As for modding the Gallardo, i can gaurentee you there will be a very strong aftermarket for this car. Personally, im good to go with a nice exhaust, air filters and 150 SHOT!
